Who will stay and who will go?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Who will stay and who will go?

Postby Talisker » Sat Jul 19, 2008 6:41 pm

When the illegal Turkish occupation of the northernmost 37% of Cyprus is ended who will stay and who will go? When does a 'settler' not become a legal resident, and what about other illegal occupants of Turkish-occupied Cyprus?

Let TCs decide who will stay and who will go.

GC involvement should be in negotiating the target demographic (82-18 ?) and the timeframe to get to that target.

A Settler can not become a legal resident. He should go back to Turkey and if he then wants to come back to Cyprus he should do it like all other foreigners! The same for anybody else who is illegally in Cyprus.

What about children of settlers, i.e. born on Cyprus, or settlers who have married TCs?

I agree!

.... As long as we do not get back more than the 18% equivalent of Turk-derived people ... the TCs can decide amongst themselves who goes and who stays ... and so long as they do not genocide each other on our soil  .... ( to adjust the figures).

To my mind we must look at individual cases on their merits (or lack of them) after due application and process to the legal government, the RoC and after applying the sort of guidelines that are applied in other EU nation states.

bill in theory that all makes sense .. but I can see it would lead to so many issues and paperwork ...

Since they are all pretty much the same now, anyway  ... does it matter .... Turk by any other name or whatever Ataturk said ... one in another out etc.

Much simpler to give them a quota based on the 18% figure ... and they can decide amongst themselves who stays and who leaves.

But we set the deadline ... otherwise all out!

Would that mean all the Pontian Greeks and other foreigners will be sent back to where they came from?

Just follow the law, evertone who entered to North illegally must leave. this means settlers, decendents of settlers, property buyers and so on.

They did not come here with the RoC permission who is the legal entity on the island so they have no right of stay, end of.

married a TC or otherwise, they must go , just as they do it in the UK, deporting halves of families.

The line is clear, did you get correct legal permission from the legal sovereign government ??? yes = you stay, No = fuck off back to whence you came and re apply.

simple, the rules are already in place.

bye bye
