How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Ok lets say that all the Turks who came during the 1974 or afterwards they have to live...what is going to happen with them who got married with TC...they going to send to Turkey the father lets day who is a Turk and live the TC wife in Cyprus? What about the kids? Are they Cypriots or Turks coming from a marriage like this one? What about the Turks who came and live in north Cyprus for 30-34 years? What about the children of two Turks who were born and grow up in Cyprus...are they Cypriots or not? If and when that moment come you will see that all the Turks will find a way to be Cypriots. By the way of I am not mistaken British, American has build houses and moved to north of Cyprus...what is going to happen with them if they build on GC land? Are they going to have the same luck with the Turks who have done the same? Just curious.

Also one other big problem...what is going to happen with all the new hotels, houses, villas, casinos that were build on GC land. Who owns them? The ones who one the land or the ones who payed thousands to build them? Who is going to pay money to whom?

I think you should all think about who is going to go from the Greek side as well. You are all assuming that everyone in the south has a right to be there and only those in the TRNC need to be scrutinised and sent packing. You are also assuming that the GCs are the only ones who will decide.

none of those people you say came with a gun and army to live in Cyprus

I think that if push comes to shove Lena, many will be seen to with Greek aggression as it was. Every single person that came to live in the "RoC" after 1963 came with the gun and an army...A Greek one. Sorry but it is a matter of perception and whilst you see those in the TRNC as coming with an army I see the same on the other side.

Just a correction which I saw from your previous post. I never said that GC will take the decision who is going to stay or not. If GC took all the decisions why we still have a divided island?

As for the people you say...well yes I agree with you that not all of them came as I said...many Greeks came afterwards because of the Turkish invasion. Not that I believe that if something happen they will help that much. If the Greek army leave do you agree that all the Turkish troops, all the Turks who came to inhabit the island will leave too? By the way...if I am no mistake its Turkey who hold almost half of the island and not Greece.

If you ask me I dont want the British who hold part of the island, the Turks or the Greeks. I want only Cypriots.

I am sorry Lena but Greece does hold half the island...That part that is called the "RoC".

As I have said...Only a settlement will give us the chance to decide as equals who leaves and who stays and if you guys are going to look at our people and have your say then we have the same right to do the exact same. If we are not afforded that right then it will be a Greek decision only. I am sorry bur I will not allow the Greek admin to say who is and who isn't a Cypriot. The criteria will put every TC at risk.

Zan now you are trying a different game from what you used to? No you are wrong. Greece did not invade Cyprus...even though we were stupid and we wanted them. Since 1960 this island became an independent country. Turkey though decided to hold half of the island and transfer his surplus from Turkey to north Cyprus. Do you call them Cypriots?

I can not see what you want ... to keep all the Turks that came from Turkey back then and name them Cypriots?

What do you call the coup if not an invasion Lena......Greek tanks and Greek soldiers killing GCs and TCs. An attempt at the life of the president of Cyprus and the killing of his supporters. I would call that an invasion!!!

The game I am playing is of fairness. If we are to subjugate people to scrutinise their Cypriotness then where do we stop. You have an idea of one place and I say that is not far enough. The which hunt has to be total or not at all. The so called "RoC" is not the only authority on the island.

Can you see the difficulty of such an endeavor. I would rather it did not begin at all on the grounds of humanity. Soldiers are one thing...Easily identified....The civilian lot are more more complicated.

Ok I am going to help you here...I think you are a bit confused...or you have not read what I said at first place. Now you remind me VP  Ok then I am going to colour it for you to help you to understand what i said. You mention the "difficult fairness"...well my first statement mention that ...so go back and read it one more time.

Later on I mention that we do have British, Greeks and Greek army that I would love them to leave as well.

Lets say I agree with you that the coup was an invasion. The Greeks though left and the Turks came as worst invaders ... they killed GC and TC, rape them and stole their land, forced TC to move to the north side and kicked out the GC. But they never left....they are still there after 34 years.

No. There is one rule that applies for both. It goes something like this.

"The occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies."

Are the Turks in violation of the RULE ?
Are the Greeks in violation of the RULE ?

This is from the Geneva convention:

Article 49 of IVth Geneva Convention

"The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies."

However, the Geneva Convention is toothless. There exist no sanctions against any state that violates it. It is little more than a gentleman's agreement, I am afraid. If there existed any sanctions, you can be sure that the RoC would have made recourse to them by now.

Viewpoint claims discrimination i.e. "one rule for you and another for us".

As far as sanctions go, the world is evolving. New Institutions are being established, like the International Criminal Court. Who knows what the future holds ?

Tim we all know there are rules to be followed as part of a co-operative, civilised approach to living with neighbours.

But just because you don't get carted off immediately, it does not mean your indiscretions are ignored.

Even a handshake can be admissible as evidence when push comes to shove.

Why is it this one country, Turkey, which continually, totally disregards all agreements and recommendations for conduct, which it thinks it can get away with?

However, the evidence is mounting up, and just like other such regimes and violators reached their tipping points, Turkey's is fast approaching too.

Since the signing of the Geneva Convention, it has been breached countless times by many states, including ones that are held in high international standing.
