Who will stay and who will go?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Citizenships granted to immigrants by the "RoC" will have to be reviewed and the same criteria should be applied as put forward for Turks who settled in the north after 1974, otherwise it will be a matter of double standards yet again.

They can apply for Cypriot Citizenship by naturalisation after completing 5 years' residence:

http://www.moi.gov.cy/moi/citizenschart ... endocument

Acquisition of Cypriot Citizenship by Naturalisation
An application on form M.127 may be submitted by persons of full age and capacity who were legally residing in the Republic of Cyprus and who in the last 8 years before their application accumulated more than 5 years of residence or more than 7 years of residence, if they are sports players, sports technicians or coaches or work in International Business Companies, or work for Cypriot employers etc. They should attach a birth certificate, their passport, a good character certificate issued by the police, 2 photographs and the publication in a Cypriot newspaper for 2 consecutive days of their intention to apply for naturalisation.

If we agree joint regulations then they have be applied to both sides, neither side can claim to have the right not to protect it immigrants and punish those on the other side.

The RoC being the only legal entity on the island has the right to allow any reasonable immigration and naturalisation as it sees fit. The RoC has not embarked on a program to alter the demographics of the island. Turkey on the hand has committed a major war crime under the Geneva Conventions on Occupied territories by importing 120,000 illegal Turkish settlers.

Most naturalised citizens are those that have legally resided, worked and contributed to Cyprus over a number of years. No one has the right to question their citizenship.

Do you understand the meaning of partnership? it means we have a say as well. You still display the we are in charge mentality where we can push you to one side. Get to grips with the idea that if you agree criteria for the dealing of immigrants that came to the island after 1974 we will ask you apply this to everyone not just Turks, otherwise this is discrimination.

You decided in 63 to forego the partnership. Last time I checked, your partnership status is still enshrined in the constitution, so when Turkey withdraws, the TCs are more than welcome to reclaim their rights as protected by the RoC constitution.

You need to get a grip. There is no discrimination when the TCs can reclaim their unfair and disproportional rights as enshrined in the constitution. You have decided to enjoy the spoils of war, and hence choosing not to participate in the island's only legitimate authority, meanwhile leaving the GCs to pick up the pieces and run the country.

I believe if we ever come to a solution this will be a bigger problem from the actual Cyprus problem. Ok lets say that all the Turks who came during the 1974 or afterwards they have to live...what is going to happen with them who got married with TC...they going to send to Turkey the father lets day who is a Turk and live the TC wife in Cyprus? What about the kids? Are they Cypriots or Turks coming from a marriage like this one? What about the Turks who came and live in north Cyprus for 30-34 years? What about the children of two Turks who were born and grow up in Cyprus...are they Cypriots or not? If and when that moment come you will see that all the Turks will find a way to be Cypriots. By the way of I am not mistaken British, American has build houses and moved to north of Cyprus...what is going to happen with them if they build on GC land? Are they going to have the same luck with the Turks who have done the same? Just curious.

Also one other big problem...what is going to happen with all the new hotels, houses, villas, casinos that were build on GC land. Who owns them? The ones who one the land or the ones who payed thousands to build them? Who is going to pay money to whom?

I think you should all think about who is going to go from the Greek side as well. You are all assuming that everyone in the south has a right to be there and only those in the TRNC need to be scrutinised and sent packing. You are also assuming that the GCs are the only ones who will decide.

I think that if push comes to shove Lena, many will be seen to with Greek aggression as it was. Every single person that came to live in the "RoC" after 1963 came with the gun and an army...A Greek one. Sorry but it is a matter of perception and whilst you see those in the TRNC as coming with an army I see the same on the other side.
