Give Up 34 Years of Struggle ?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

No wonder you could not pass your exams as you fail to recognize your inherent hypocrisy.

How are your celebrations going? Do you enjoy celebrating on the graves of 6000 victims and with such disregard to 200,000 who have been ethnically cleansed from their homes?

Well people aren't exactly running around the streets in joy. To you the 20 th of July only means what you stated above. For us it is a symbol of being reborn after the failed bogus Republic.

What I meant with the Hatay thing is that they were both "banana republics" .

That's not the response I expected umit07. You asked the question, you got an answer. It's appears you have no problem with a 50% Turkish ENOSIS. I thought you would be horrified.

Now why do you consider Cyprus a bogus republic?

Banana Republic or not, the future of this territory should have been the legitimate decision of the inhabitants.

Well GF the Republic you talk about only lasted a year like you stated. I find it comical that you compare yourselves with the Republic of Hatay.

And what was that territory before that year ?
It was part of the Mandate of Syria (1923). It was "detached" from the Mandate and made into a republic, dodgy electoral tricks ensured a Turkish "majority" and a government composed only of Turks "gifted" it to Turkey.

The only comparison made was this...
It is ACCEPTABLE for a territory comprising of 50% Turks ( 1 to 1 ) to have ENOSIS with the Motherland.
It is UNACCEPTABLE. for a territory comprising of 80% Greeks ( 4 to 1 ) to have ENOSIS with the Motherland.

How is that comparison comical for you? You do or don't believe the political direction of a territory should be decided by democratic means, ie "by the people" ? How should these things be decided ?

I have never said that the GC's wanting ENOSIS was illegitimate! Neither do I concider the TC struggle to counter ENOSIS illegitimate. You chose to gamble and roled the dice . After your failed attempt we used force to establish a new country up North. It's that simple.

As I said before you sing the Greek national anthem and can't even stop flying the Greek flag infront of official buildings .
