APOEL PLAYED THEIR HEARTS OUT!!! 3-3 In Belgrade after being 0-2 up. They drew 2-2 with a goal that never crossed the goal line.

Apoel left with the 10 players for extra time was losing 3-2 due to a penalty awarded to Red Star Belgrade but somehow fought off the exhaustion and equalised 3-3 3 minutes from the end to send them through to the next round.

I was nearly admitted to hospital last night!

Bravo to all 3 teams of Cyprus!

P.S bananiot...enjoy the wins. Anorthosis is now playing in the Champions League under the name of FAMAGUSTA and APOEL and Omonoia are representing the last divided city in Europe

AC, every time you write "are," do you mean to say "our?"

If the Cypriots here have an identity crisis, then the positive is that they are CYPRIOTS having an identity crisis. In the occupied areas there's no need for an identity crisis because Turkish settlers have no doubts about where they are from.

Sorry AC, no offence but thats just bad grammar. Its the same in the US, UK or anywhere else. It should be 'our', each word has a different use/meaning.

Hmm interesting comment. As you say it is just a game, it lasts 90minutes and involves 22 men running after a sack of air. However as a football fan you see it as something different. You see it as a representation of who you are and what you stand for. If you support one team you follow it maybe becuase it is your hometown or somewhere that has a large meaning to you. Some is also politics, I understand that in Cyprus it is largely down to this.

Therefore these fans are displaying their belief's whilst they represent themselves, their towns, their opinions and their support for that team.

This makes football more than a game, it makes it an outboard for people to express themselves. These 3 teams have all done that and I think Cypriots should feel proud that these teams and fans have expressed where their roots belong, Cyprus, no where else.

Again congrats to all 3 teams and hopefully some progress further on!

How is Scarborough Patto, I have fond memories of this city having spent a week there back in 2003. For sport!

I understand what you are saying but I am a rational person and despite the fact that at times I too indulge in diluting reality with fantasy, I cannot but see any sport in the right context and not an extension to my innermost beliefs, fears or existential problems.
