Fiction can be as entertaining as fact!

As long as Fiction is kept as such and not passed as a Fact, as in "Tom Soyer's" posts..

Thanks to our resident "Sherlock Holmes", they do not get away with that for long.

I did work for the "New Scotland Yard" back in my early years in the 70's Tim, but I did not have a "smoke pipe" in my mouth back then as I do now on the forum.!!

God, I haven't heard that name for a very long time. That use to be a very popular TV police series in the 70's.

I use the CF as a daily magazine to read what is going on in Cyprus in general so this save me 4 Euros each day . Also I use CF to read the latest developments regarding the Cyprus Problem this saves me an additional 1 Euro each day . So CF saves me money! I dont buy any magazine or newspaper this is waste of money when you have the CF.

I think CF is fine. No image consultant required.

It is obvious that the other place has a better image due to the heavy hand of censorship. I was reading a thread there last night which got quite nasty for 6 or 7 posts. This morning with some judicious editing and some deleting, all is lovely again!

We could always get Jim "Goebbels" to come here as an Admin, but then it would get boring just like the other place.

Let me give you my view on CL: I was a member from its early days, and stayed for some years; Iknow a large number of its members. So I know it better than most.

It has changed; in its early days, it was very valuable as Cyprus based members were able to advise the many incomers, on life in Cyprus, what needed to be done and how to do it. Now, nearly all members live here or have Cyprus holiday homes, so it has changed into a kafeneio, as (Mainly) Paphos located Brits talk about local issues.

However, Rule 1 is you are never allowed to express a view contrary to Admins


In contrast, CF is much more cosmopolitan; comprises people from many different backgrounds and nationalities and covers Cyprus wide topics, as well as some not related to Cyprus at all. It also tends to allow a fair degree of free speech, which can be fairly robust at times - particularly in CyProb.

BTW I am thinking of inviting Grim Reaper to handle PR issues on behalf of CF!

Jim and I have an excellent rapport and therefore I can volunteer to undertake PR issues on behalf of the CF.

As for Grim Reaper, I believe he is the wrong person. He is quite anti Paphos, and needs to apologise for his sacrilege. Deep down I am sure he is soft at heart, but he is in need of some educating from myself. He needs to understand a few facts as follows:

1) Paphites are the best although Miltiades seems to dent this infallible reputation, and
2) Paphos is the best place in the world.

I have the impression that The Grim Reaper is slightly more feminine that what he makes out. Can you tell me if he is gay? You mentioned a Mrs Grim Reaper, so perhaps he may still be in the closet. Unless of course he is a crossdressing she, in which case if there is a Mrs Grim Reaper, then she may be lesibian!

Anyway, send him my regards, and let him know that the "Immortal Paphitis" is only too willing to provide him with the education he so desperately needs.

i agree with cbbb. i have joined one of the other forums, mainly north based. this was to promote our new business locally and nothing more. i agree that if they don't like what you say they will delete your post. democracy,i think not! since joining i have been threatened by a rival business(safehands pet sitting,) who was promptly told to mind her own business. talked about as being a spy for the otherside the cf, just because i gave my view. these people are paranoid. they seem to think that as someone, who wants fair and final solution in cyprus, i am a minority. they need to get out more! apart from that they believe we are all being watched by both goverments, the uk goverment and even the cia.
to be honest i will not be going back on that forum, even if i never have another customer. i believe in freedom of speech and will not be silenced by a forum who pick and choose posts.

Fora that just look "reasonable" are the end result of over-deletions which render the whole concept obsolete!

But taking a principled stand wins in the end .... so when the north is safely back under the RoC umbrella ... I will be using your kennels!
