That's true Tim, or at least it was until "Tom Soyer" showed up of course.!!

Fiction can be as entertaining as fact!

As long as Fiction is kept as such and not passed as a Fact, as in "Tom Soyer's" posts..

Thanks to our resident "Sherlock Holmes", they do not get away with that for long.

To their defense I must admit that some of the posts most likely contain useful information to the people who choose to communicate and interact at the forum in question. I reckon it's simply not a forum for me although I must admit that some threads over there has an undeniable entertainment value. ;)

To our defense I must say that we actually try to talk about things that matter. Even though we have our own fair share of threads like 'Do you feel claustrophobic living in Cyprus?'. What kind of question is that to ask on a public forum anyway?

That just about sums it up AI. What is important to one has no relevance to another.
Unfortunately however, I do believe that some individuals on this forum are overly confrontational and seem to have forgotten how to have a laugh, without it being at someone else's expense.

This forum is not for the squeamish. Love it or hate it, it can’t be ignored. It is the biggest Cyprus forum on the internet. Cyprus is a war torn Island and every thread on this forum heads North un-moderated. If you want to see what some Cypriots really think of the British on the "Island of Love” then this is the place to go.

Within 10 minutes of announcing my family plight I was called a “plebeian” and a “selfish scumbag” it went downhill from there to “I think I am going to get a group of Cypriots to come down and piss over you while you sleep”

It is sadly populated by internet_trolls who live in Cyberspace rather than Cyprus itself. Some post 50 plus times a day anonymously like cowards and haven’t seen daylight in months. However there are a lot of nice people (Cypriot and Ex-pat) there too and in only 10 minutes of reading you will easily be able to sort out the wheat from the chaff. Good Luck!!

Loving the link Conor which just about sums the forum up to a tee.

Well as one who attended the Ally Pally Rally I'd have to say it was in the main very good natured.
There were two incidents where abuse was hurled by Cypriots who assumed we had bought in the north.
One later apologised profusely when he'd read the literature, and wished us luck. We met many lovely Cypriot people that day and, of course, met each other and shared our common problem.

In fact, having met Conor for the first time that day, rather than just talk several times on the telephone, I'd have to declare him utterly charming and the perfect gentleman :D I think it a shame that a handful of individuals make assumptions without any knowledge whatsoever. One might almost think they were Turkish plants trying to give Cypriots a bad name with their bile.

I'm not interested in your opinion of him or anyone else's for that matter.

I've seen and read enough to form my own.

As far as I am concerned, I hate the fact he uses this forum to offload what looks like propaganda to me.

IMO Admin have been extremely tolerant of what he does on this forum.

It is the only bad thing about this forum as far as my opinion goes and from his threads I feel a lot of bad feelings are generated.

I wish Conor would do us all a favour by not attempting to parasitise this otherwise fun-forum for what appears to be his personal advertising campaign.

I think he ruins the atmosphere when he posts and that goes for his bandwagon IMO ...

I'm off!
