The north is under occupation! By Basaran Duzgun

Postby MicAtCyp » Thu May 05, 2005 10:21 pm

The editor in chief of KIBRIS newspaper writes that the mentality of increasing the population in the occupied part of Cyprus to 500 thousands still exists Under the title The north is under occupation, Basaran Duzgun, editor in chief of Turkish Cypriot daily KIBRIS newspaper (03.05.05), writes, inter alia, the following: Let no one try to discuss this problem by hiding behind his finger, because the issue has a long time ago gone beyond the dimensions of utopian discussions. Almost every day a belly is probed, a man is slaughtered, tens of houses are robbed, and billions of (Turkish liras) are stolen. Let no one try to conceal the problem, because it is an occupation problem. Northern Cyprus is under occupation: Every day that passes the occupation of murderers, thieves, charlatans and rascals is settled even more. It is almost institutionalized and causes problems to more citizens every day, irrespectively of the origin of these citizens. And thus this occupation continues. No power can face this occupation. Neither the police nor the army nor the civilian authority (can face it). Those who have been brought to power with the votes of the people are actually without authority. Discussing the issue with them and trying to bring them to book is in vain, because they do not have even the slightest authority to give orders. When they try to do so they receive the answer we do not take orders from you ... The police are a walk on in this issue. The dimensions of the issue are frightening. Everyday houses are robbed, attempts for murders are conducted. Ships come full and no one can prevent those who come. There is an order of things where even the police cannot interfere in the gangs of robbers that come out from the ships. It is certain that the north is under the occupation of thieves, murderers, charlatans and rascals. The responsible for what is happening is the mentality of let us increase the population of the North to 500 thousands which is still acting secretly but effectively. Or (the responsible) is the those living there have been drawn into rottenness philosophy. Those who think that the northern part of Cyprus is not Turkish enough and try to Turkify it, are those who prevent all the efforts that are exerted. Let no one be offended, but as long as the power is not passing to the civilian authority the situation will continue being like this. Some persons will be lamenting that those living in the TRNC do not want us, ships will continue coming full and no one will be able to prevent houses and shops from being robbed and people from being murdered. Until when (this will be happening)? Until the issue is turned into a political crisis? Is it the time for organizing rallies under the slogan End the occupation, give me back my sovereignty? Is this what is desired? /SK

Nah, they are not occupationists. A person who just enter to another country is not necessarily an occupationist. These are usually Kurds from East Anatolia, who go to Mersin and then take a ferry to N.Cyprus. I wonder if you still adore them mic :D

In my opinion, these kind of incidents don't arise from the current status-quo in North. Similar crimes are committed in the so-called RoC too. MicAtCyp can you obtain us the 2004 statistics of "free areas" concerning the number of crimes committed in south? Particularly the crimes committed by Pontians? Or you'll let it to me to list all of the robberies, murders, corruptions etc to me...

I said it before and I am still waiting until it develops.

It will be the TC themselves, the young and educated that will make a change to the future of Cyprus.

I still remember that Birads show from the occupied areas before the referendum took place and the picture of young TC women beaten up by settlers is still on my head.

Unfortunately, solution will come from that action.
I don't see how the TC will overcome the fear of GC wanting enosis or to rule their lives (like they have nothing else to worry) and surely I don't see GC willing to abandon their democratic rights just to proven themselves to TC. It is not fiar nor logical.

let's see

What about the young and educated GCs? What are they doing? Drinking frappe on Makarios avenue with cigarette in one hand and cell phone on the other, spending dad's money? Don't they have no obligation for their country's future?

Yes they have

but they are toooooo busy from driving their dad's BMW and drinking coffee in Makariou as you said.

Really, sometimes I cannot beleive how plastic the GC society is

but that has nothing to do with the fact that they are not willing to accept anything less than their political rights in full

Yeah! You keep distorting the incidents for your propaganda needs! You think it will bring you what you dream of; a TC minority in A GC state without guarantorship of Turkey and relocation of all TC refugees!
