There is a lot of evidence to suggest career-Soldiers are more likely to rape and abuse ... discuss!

Oracle;

Where is the evidence? and dont talk Turkey as they are not career soldiers.

Over the page Deniz, supplied under duress as I was inviting Richard just to discuss first to get an idea of perceptions ....

I clicked on it and all I got was an e-mail address for the place. Never mind. Thanks anyway. I will try again.

Why do you want to e-mail them? ... here is the cut and pasted data to look at .. find their web page and see if they have a new e-mail address if you want to send them a message ...

Stop Military Rape

Military Rape Crisis Center
Too important to ignore….. Did you know………?
25 % of women will be sexually assaulted on a college campus.
12 % of women will be raped while in college.
28-66 % of women in the military REPORT sexual assault *
27 % of women are REPORTED raped in the military
BUT……

Sexual assault remains a pervasive problem for women in the military, including those currently deployed overseas. The military's hierarchy is ill-equipped and unwilling to deal fairly with rape complaints.

AND what are they doing about it currently……………?

According to the Department of Defense's own statistics 74-85% of soldiers convicted of rape or sexual assault leave the military with honorable discharges (meaning the rape conviction does not appear on their record!). Only 2-3% of soldiers accused of rape are ever court-martialed. And only 5-6% of soldiers accused of domestic abuse are ever
court-martialed. In fact several multiple homicides have recently taken place on military bases that have not even been criminally prosecuted!

Department of Defense's definition of Morale Booster, for male soldiers:
FEMALE SOLDIERS
Take as needed, dispose when finished and continue serving with 'honor'

Please remember………… Many suffer in silent shame. Never forget.

**Statistics taken from various sources including studies done by the Department of Veterans Affair (VA).

Testosterone my *****. Oracle you have no idea what modern warfare is like. I have been on a frigate during military exercises. The fighting is a bunch of nerdy looking people intently looking at monitors, tracking dozens of dots. Buttons are pressed and weapons fired, unseen, the only indication you have that something was fired is perhaps a noise or rumble on the ship. About a third of the officers watching screens are women, at least in the Greek navy they are, which puts the testosterone theory to rest.

You have been watching too many movies. As for the rape in the US forces, you are trying to make me believe that a quarter of service women have been raped and none has sued the US government for millions. A very unlikely event in litigious minded America. That kind of rape statistics would no doubt build a case in court that the high command by ommission adopts a policy of rape. This is not how Americans function. The dollar comes first and they would pursue it relentlessly.

You need to revise the assumptions on this one.

Nikitas .. on the contrary you are making assumptions about testosterone levels and the "Nerdy" male.

Testosterone manifests itself in more than just brawn ... Those computer nerds could well be seething with masculinity, and perhaps the women also.

As for litigation, how many cases do you know where women have been awarded millions for being raped, civilian or otherwise?

It is a well known fact that the "shame" factor prevents report of this crime.

All sorts! For some (Cypriots!) it is compulsory!

Sorry O, but I am not 'getting' your obvious obsession with Conor! :? :?

OMG  ... Is that why they were on my mind ... OMG  ... stick some IMHOs in there somewhere IMHO

Bubbles .. I am obviously not referring to conscripts and Military service  ..

I am curious about the nature / psyche of the average career-killer ... I mean career-soldier! :D

No O, the only thing OBVIOUS, is your obsession with Conor and you trying to discredit him anyway you can! IMO!

Maybe you should stay off the kokkineli for a night or two!

BTW, why not include National Service - are their guns made from plastic? Can these soldiers not have a career following their NS? :?

Bubbles can you refrain from passing on your false assumptions ....

If they choose an Army career after NS then they are the same as Career Soldiers. Point?

What assumptions? The wine? Just going by your post from last night - copied it for your memory

Will people stop logging in as me!

Stop this thread, I want to get off! :(

So, if after doing their NS, they then decide to become 'career soldiers' that is ok is it? Maybe it was because of the NS they decided to enlist and become 'killing machines' So I wonder if conscription is such a good thing!?
