Earthquake

Postby kafenes » Tue Jul 15, 2008 7:36 am

At around 6:30 this morning a big thump woke me up. I thought at first I was dreaming but now I find out is was an earthquake somewhere between Turkey and Rhodes. Must have been a big one.

We are on some kind of earthquake faultline here in NZ, and when I did my induction course some years ago at the hospital where I work, we were told that our region is due for the "big one" any time now, and in the case of it happening, we staff were to abandon the patients (leave them to be saved by the emergerncy services) and get ourselves to safety, so as to be of more use later on . . . . . no doubt logical, but not very comforting on the occasions I have been an in-patient in same hospital!!!
