well thanks guys for you reply's. I know the question was a bit random and vague (thank you Pantheman!) but it was my girlfriends enquiry and I think she was refering to general unskilled labour such as bar work. We hope to start up a small business next year but will probably need to top up our income for a while, and no she's not Philippino. (150 a month!!!!!!!!!!!)
Oh and thanks for the advice CBBB, we're going to invest in a poppy field instead :-*

Found this thread in the archives and wondered if anyone knows what the average rate for freelance specialist work is in Cyprus. Management consultancy to an association.
I have been offered a day rate (8 hour) of 100 Euro, and for prep work etc if done hourly 6 Euro.
I think that this is low. What do you think? x
Really appreciate your thoughts...

It depends on what type of management consultant you are and how relevant your qualifications and experience are.

I did some consultancy for a company here over 15 years ago at an hourly rate of CYP 15 (Around €25).

For some more recent jobs, I have accepted much less.

I don't think there is a benchmark in salary in Cyprus unless you are in the public sector. I employ 18 staff and salaries vary according to experience and hours worked. I have a young woman who works in one of our shops, she has good law degree from the UK but finds it difficult to get suitable work in Cyprus.
I put it down to it's who you know rather than what you know, it's an employers market in Cyprus and the salaries reflect this.

the basic monthly wage in cyprus is 747.00euros for a 39 hr week :!: crap :!: :!: no wonder the locals are up to there eyeballs in debt

unless you are self employed :!:

It amazes me as 22yrs ago i was on 3 times as much as the above in the hotel industry before i was made redundant, now the eastern europeans are here doing the same job for the minimum wage :!: & all those years ago Cyprus was a great tourist destination with great local entertainment, now it`s an expensive holiday destination with nothing to offer :!: & they wonder why :!: Greed has turned this country into a cheap looking concrete jungle  bread, milk & electricity are treble than the rest of the EU WHY?

With rocketing unemployment in the UK, I don't think people can be too sniffy about prospects in Cyprus .....

No real sign of rocketing unemployment in the UK, a few thousand lay offs does not describe a crisis. Plenty of work out there if you want to work..
