if you purchased a proton, andys motors must have seen you coming. why didn't you buy a real car? what did you expect from a proton?

To be honest I can't understand what your problem is .

Your gripe is nothing to do with Proton or anything wrong with the car it's purely a tax / customs and excise problem .

When you bought the car you obviously opted for the cheaper option of duty free ~ you must have known the restrictions / implications of this choice, the most important one being difficulties with selling should you need to .

The solution is very simple and it doesn't involve Andys motors ~ get yourself down to the customs and excise office and ask them how much it will be to pay the duty ~ if you cant find the time the more expensive option is to get a agent to do it for you .

Unless Andy's motors specifically stated that he will assist you in paying any taxes due if you eventually want to sell I feel he has fulfilled his contractual obligations to you ~ he has sold you a car, the duty free bit was your choice not his.

As for the problem with the remote keys if Andys motors will not help keep writing to Proton ~ and suggest they review their distributors if Andys motors are not abiding with Protons recall procedure.

Unless Proton have changed over the last few years it seems most people who have bought them have been less than satisfied with the product and wouldn't buy again ~ there's obviously a good reason why they are cheaper than most other makes.

To be honest I think there are far worse car dealers in Cyprus, in fact you will be hard push to find any company in Cyprus that covers after sales, particularly in the car business. There are a few rare gems, but you have to search for those.

Well I can't fault the Mazda dealership in Larnaca ~ the only problem I have is being flagged down by the manager if he's outside the showroom and I drive past.

He asks if everything is ok with the car and if there's any problems then drags me into the showroom for a coffee and a chat .

If I'm in a hurry I tend go another route to avoid driving past his showroom and being abducted for a hour.

Good car ~ excellent dealer ~ I'm very satisfied.

we ran a garage for many years in the uk. people would come back 2 years later because the battery had gone flat, on their secondhand car. we wouldn't even take a proton in as part exchange, that should tell you something about what the trade think of proton.
