After the bloody noel/1963 Dec incidents it was the Russian planes bringing in the tons and tons of Russian and Czech weaponry. We could hear the drone of the air freight transorters everynight. That speaks for itself. The Russians had a strong grip on Cyprus then. Makarios would have sold his mother to achieve is goal.

Really that many? ... for such a small Island? ... The perceived danger from Turkey must have been pretty huge then?

Oh yes that's right because they were bombing and Napalming us civilians!

And when they failed to divide the Island in 1964, they came back again and had another two goes at invading us in 1974!

I think we had real reason to be afraid .... very afraid!

In hindsight it doesn't look like Makarios did enough to protect Cyprus ... but then maybe he was an optimistic Humanitarian first and a Patriot second!

Since when does a nation not have a right to defend itself against Turkey's Expansionism which commenced to implement it's plans for TAKSIM in 1958?

So he liked pie's??? Or is this another Turkish lie with no evidence??

No he liked little boys, ask the Brits they have evidence that would rock you people to the core, ho no like everything else youd try and explain that away as well.

You're confusing Makarios with your hero Ataturk, who was not only a paedophile but is also regarded as one of the world's most influential homosexuals.

Yes that's right. Kemal Ataturk was a proven homosexual (not that there is anything wrong with that :) ).

Here is the evidence:

:)

Now, how about those links to support the Paedophilia claims against Makarios?

I take your point.

On the other hand, I don't think he ever followed policies that suggested he had an ideological commitment towards Communism. It was just a tactical alliance that he created with the Soviet Union and its satellites, wasn't it?

As mentioned beforee, religion and Communism do not go hand in hand. He thought he was using the USSR, but it was the other way round.

1.) He gave the Americans land and the right to operate the Voice of America propaganda radio station for the middle east and the Soviet Union, from within Cyprus (Karavas,) and 2.) He allowed the 6th Fleet Ships to dock in Famagusta harbour.
