How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

garbitsch wrote:Alex, your analogy is quite different in the case of settlers. These people did not regard the lands of Greek Cypriots as "stolen by Turks". They saw these territories liberated Turkish land. They've never though that one day these lands will be handed to their owners again. Here, I see no big guilt on the side of the settlers.

He he, if we transfer this argument back to my analogy, we can say that the DVD player was "liberated" rather than stolen ... :)

But more seriously, I am not saying that these people should be punished in any way, they shouldn't be thrown out into the street to starve or be put in prison or anything like that. They should indeed be given free houses by those who promised them free houses in the first place, i.e. by Turkey. This of course can only be done within the borders of Turkey, where the Turkish government is in possession of ample property ...

I wanted to add to the above post that, with the Annan Plan, the settlers would in many cases suffer precisely this fate, i.e. they would be thrown into the streets of Cyprus with a Cypriot citizenship and not much else. The Annan Plan did not guarantee that Settlers would get to keep the properties they were using, the whole issue was left to be decided on an individual case basis by the Property Board.

Hmm now I got what you mean... Turkish Cypriot side should demand from the plan to clear any obstacles regarding the fate of the settlers...

Mr garbitsch

I do not believe we need any more mosques in Kyrenia but as far as the Fate of the settlers is concerned you have a very valid argument.

Taking Mr erolz point a little further. these settlers are of course citizens of KKTC and as such deserve more consideration as far as Annan VI is concerned.

How is that possible??

How can a posting be amendedafter it has been posted???

From my "Quote" of Mr garbitsch it is clear he made a typo and mispelt FATE

In my response a little tongue in cheek reference to mosques was made for that reason

Now I look at the post and it is NOT the post I responded to..

How can this be done???

Wow,
after I saw I misspelled fate as faith I just clicked on the "edit" button and that's it. What's so impossible?

I actually meant "fate" not "faith". Sorry if I've changed the whole spirit of your reply

Mr garbitsch

It's not that I'm upset that my wisecrack will fall flat. It will not be the first time that my sense of humour has not been appreciated.

What I find interesting, or actually more puzzling, is that I assumed that I could only respond to a post that had been posted. i.e. to something that the poster had no control over any more. Perhaps I'm being obtuse , or that I do not know enough about computers and Fora. I have managed to prove this inadequacy with several of my posts. I am still perplexed as to how to render multiple quotes as per e.g Mr erolz and Mr MixAtCyp.

BUT I thought that once you hit the "submit" button that it was sort of like e=mail. i.e. It's gone. Parta. Bye Bye.

And you were able to edit it after this?

Does this mean that you can edit your other posting?

Can we all?

Believe me there is one of mine that I would not only like to change but would like to remove completely.

Is there any body out there who can explain this phenomenon?

Hehe nevermind... By the way what kind of advanced English is that.? I got the half of your post :D

Anyway, you can edit all of your posts but you cannot delete the posts you sent in politics section, I think. but in other sections you can delete your posts... For this section, if you have posted something that you didnt like it, you can click on the "edit" button on the top right of your post, delete what you've written and write down "deleted" and click "send". That's all you have to do.
I think you got something out of my broken English :D

Mr garbitsch

Yes I can see this now

I managed to add the letter "e" to my previous post and I'm more confusedthan ever. However, this too will pass.

As for my English I'm afraid it is simply the product of a mis-spent youth.

I under stand you very well Mr garbitsch. Thank you.
