ELECTRICITY PRICES LOWERED IN TRNC

The Council of Ministers has announced that the price of electricity has been lowered by 11 per cent.

The reduced prices will be valid as from the 1st of September.

Speaking after the meeting of the Council of Ministers which convened under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer yesterday, the Minister of Public Works and Communication Salih Usar said that the price of electricity was lowered after a drop in the price of fuel oil on world market.

Mr. Usar also rejected the claims that the price of electricity had been increased to cover the budget deficit.

The Minister noted that the Council also approved the minimum wage which was increased from 1060 New Turkish Liras to 1190 New Turkish Liras.

The new minimum wage will be implemented 10 days after its publication in the official gazette.

I assume that is for a month, and if so, basically this increase will just about cover the inflation cost, therefore those living on minimum wage will not see their lives improve at all. If the Lira sinks again, as it did few months ago, it will be even worse for them.

Halil, you already told us what you make per months, which is way above the minimum wage in the north, but what is the average pay for those working in the north. I'm a little confused however, because last year it was reported by various forum members, that $10,000 US dollars was the GDP for the north, which is about 12,000 YTL. But if the current pay is about 1060 YTL per month X 13 months, it = 13,780 YTL or $11,480 US Dollars. Something is very wrong with this picture, because the £10,000 US Dollars GDP in the north is $1,480 US Dollars under the minimum wage. How can that be.? Is it because almost everyone is earning the minimum wage in the north, or is it because, there are way too many unemployed individuals in the north, which brings down the GDP.?? The GDP will look even worse with the new increase in the minimum wage. So Halil, what's the story on this. By contrast, the GDP for Turkey is about $7,500 US Dollars, about 25% less than the "trnc's".!!

do you actually think he has the thinking capacity to actually understand what the hell you are talking about?...you might as well say it in /dutch/french/italian/german/romanian/hungarian/russian/swedish/chinese/thai/vietnamese/indian/pakistani/arabic...

coz if he actually understood half the cut&paste, then you would have a chance...

You left out Greek and Turkish, Boomer.!

I am not economist Kikapu , even I don't know how they calculate .

today 1 dollar was equal to 1.19 YTL .

minimum wages is only for unskilled people . even ı have no idea how many people gets paid from minimum wages .

as far as ı know minimum technician gets 1900 YTL per month (lowest wages) ( i am talking where i worked , i get 5000 YTL per month)

also i know that our wages are very higher than Turkey .

News from the northern Cyprus .

GENERAL BASBUG: WE WANT A PERMANENT SOLUTION IN CYPRUS BUT GCS SHOULD AGREE ON THE TRNC REALITY

The new Chief of the Turkish General Staff- General Ilker Başbuğ has expressed support to a comprehensive, just and permanent solution to the Cyprus problem.
He said that the problem should be solved through full-fledged negotiations under the framework of the United Nations.

General Başbuğ, who took over the duty of Chief of the Turkish General Staff from General Yaşar Büyükanıt, made the statement during yesterday’s hand over ceremony in Ankara.
The TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat was among the guests attending the ceremony.

In his speech at the ceremony, General Başbuğ emphasized that the Cyprus problem was a national cause for both Turkey and the TRNC.
The General said, if the goal is to reach a political settlement in Cyprus, it should first be accepted by all that the Greek Cypriot Administration is not the “Republic of Cyprus” established in 1960 with agreements reached in 1959-60 and that the TRNC is a reality.

He noted that the Turkish Cypriot People’s political equality and sovereignty should be included in any solution plan to be proposed and that it should also be acceptable for Turkey as a guarantor power.

News from the northern Cyprus.

GC APPLICATIONS TO PROPERTY COMMISSION REACH 353

The number of Greek Cypriots applying to the TRNC Immovable Property Commission has reached 353.
The Commission has so far settled 43 of the outstanding applications.

While 37 of these cases have been settled through compensation, the commission offered the exchange of property as a settlement for two applications, both of which belong to a Greek Cypriot named Mike Timvios who had earlier applied to the European Court of Human Rights.
The commission has decided to return the property of 4 applicants, one of them after a political settlement.

Meanwhile, the Commission is considering an application made by a Greek Cypriot who wanted to sell his property in North Cyprus in line with a newly passed law in the TRNC.
The Greek Cypriot applied to the commission for the sale of his property after reaching an agreement with a Turkish Cypriot buyer.

Following the completion of the necessary procedure by the commission, the title deeds of the property will be handed over to the new owner at the TRNC Land Registration Department in line with the new law.

The Immovable Property Commission was set up with the aim of providing a domestic remedy for property claims by Greek Cypriots.
The Turkish Cypriot Side has been saying that the property issue – which is one of the key issues of the Cyprus problem - should be solved as part of a settlement to the Cyprus problem.

Typical Turkish propaganda bullshit.

1. It was not a 'demand' it was a request. Call it a goodwill gesture, not that you people know anything about that.
2. It was for one day, not every day. It wasn't going to be a major operation that would require 'special arrangements'.
3. The people just wanted to go to church (one of the few that your friends haven't demolished). They weren't going to spy on your magnificent 'TRNC' military or whatever you think they were going to do.
4. The roads were fine for the busloads of your lot to come through and celebrate your 'victory' a few weeks ago.
