Lets hope that they instill in kids the need be proud of being Cypriots first and foremost. The predominant factor that our people have as a common ground is their Cypriotness. The cancers are two and we all know what they are.
Teach the kids to be proud Cypriots and the future for Cyprus is guaranteed !!

There are bad people and there are good people; and if anyone wants an example of bad people in history, Turkey has many examples.

But no one can come anywhere near Turkey as the country which is the greatest violator of International Law and Human Rights ....

Do we have to start lying now to cover up for the Turks' crimes? :?

I was most impressed with those lovely innocent children Halil who genuinely looked happy to see us , not the slightest sign of weariness by the fact that three of us were G/Cs . They smiled happily and confirmed what I always felt , that children react to how they are brought up. I hope to return soon and see those happy carefree children smiling again.

TALAT CRITICIZES TRADE UNIONS
President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that he is continuing the negotiations in coordination with the government and underlined the importance of acting in solidarity towards a solution.

The President called on the trade unions to keep the capacity of the country into consideration when criticizing the government about its decisions.
Speaking during a visit paid to him by some trade unions, the President said `it is everyone’s duty to help create a structure which will not weaken the motivation for a solution`.

Mr Talat stated that the Presidency is continuing the negotiations in coordination with the government and said `the government should concentrate the issue as much as we do`.

Criticizing the trade unions for their attitude towards the government, he said the unions should keep the capacity of the country into consideration and added that sacrifice should be made by all when the limits of the capacity is breached.

The President of the Cyprus Turkish Public Servants’ Union KTAMS Ahmet Kaptan – who was among the representatives of unions visiting the President – said that the government has the biggest role in maintaining peace within the country.

Mr Kaptan claimed that the government placed a heavy burden on people with its recent decisions and said that the unions and NGOs would be able to contribute more to a solution if the government takes steps towards creating more peace in the country.

News from the Northern CYPRUS.

PRESIDENT TALAT `PERIOD AHEAD WILL NOT BE EASY`

President Mehmet Ali Talat has warned that the period which is to start on the 3rd of September with the launch of full-fledged negotiations – will not be an easy one but said that the Turkish Cypriot Side will work hard to bring about a solution to the Cyprus problem.
The President expressed the hope that new developments yielding positive results would be seen in the new period ahead.

President Talat was speaking during a visit paid to him today by a group of civil society organizations which expressed their support to the full-fledged negotiations set to be started next month.

The President told representatives of 16 NGOs that the Turkish Cypriot Side is attending the negotiations with good will and that it will work for an agreement that will protect the interests of the two sides and will not create the conditions for a new conflict on the island.

The President said that although losing hope for a solution from time to time, he looks positive to the talks ahead.

Mr Talat also added that the talks cannot last forever in spite of the sensitivity being shown by the Greek Cypriot Side towards setting a timetable for the negotiations.

He stated that the Turkish Cypriot Side maintains its position in support of bringing about a solution to the Cyprus problem as soon as possible.
The President also added that he would take the parameters of the Turkish Cypriot People for a solution as a guidebook for him at the talks.
Speaking on behalf of the 16 NGOs, the President of Turk-Sen Erkan Birer pointed out that the Cyprus issue is at a turning point and said `there are positive signals coming from the two sides towards a solution`.
Expressing their support to the new process, Mr Birer said that the organizations will also pay a similar visit to the Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias.

He stated that the NGOs will support the continuation of the negotiations process and expressed the hope that concrete steps will be taken towards a solution.

During the visit, the organizations presented a letter to President Talat which explains their common position towards a solution.

In the letter, the organizations points out that the majority of the Turkish Cypriot People support a United Federal Cyprus formula and says they will support all kinds of steps to be taken towards the reunification of the island.

News from the Northern Cyprus ..............

The 44th Anniversary of the Erenköy Resistance and martyrs who fell during the resistance will be remembered with a ceremony in the Erenköy village tomorrow morning.

The ceremony will also be attended by President Mehmet Ali Talat and many other high ranking officials.

People will travel to the village by buses organized by the Erenköy Fighters’ Association.

The buses will depart from various villages and districts to Erenköy.
Although it is a Turkish Cypriot territory, people can go to Erenköy by passing through a Greek Cypriot region.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that the Pirgo local authorities which earlier announced that they will block the way to the Erenköy village – have decided to allow Turkish Cypriots to cross over into the village.

Greek Cypriot radio reported that the Mukhtar of Pirgo announced after a meeting of the council of elders that instead of blocking the way, they will hold a silent action to protest the failure to open the Yesilırmak Gate to crossings.

Last month, President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias instructed their special representatives to take up the issue of the Yesilırmak gate and other crossing points.
