One of the myths that was used to scare Greek Cypriots were the alleged comment of U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Fried on June 26 2003.
During his short visit to Cyprus four days ago, Fried was asked to comment on reports that he allegedly admitted that the US administration handed Cyprus to Turkey, through the Annan Plan, as a reward for the latter’s provision of facilities to the United States for the war in Iraq.
You are such a joke, Bananiot ...such a joke indeed!!! As much and as far as I remember, and I do well, the time Daniel Fried made the alleged remarks, but more importantly, the news circulation of these alleged remarks, are dated after the Annan plan referendums; therefore they have nothing to do with the outcome of the referendum and the fact that 76% of the GCs rejected it! The case of Fried's alleged comments has never been played during the referendum campaigne, but only after!
