They didn’t realise the next step required brains ... to turn stolen land into a new country.
Where have the Turks gone wrong in 34 years, to still have not finished the “job”?
Here are my personal favourites on their failings:
Greed:
They took more than double what anyone would have thought was a reasonable request to meet their “fears” and tried to justify it, unsuccessfully.
Pride:
They played the Colonialists. Too quick to populate the north with settlers. Too Kemalist in their demands, due to their superior race assumptions.
Envy:
Their jealous demand to force their way into the EU has highlighted their undesirability to other civilised countries.
So Turks if you had not taken too much, brought in settlers and expected to elbow your way into the EU ..... half of Cyprus may have been all yours by now...
