lets see, my friends are from my neighborhood and I grew up in a refugee neighborhood that only had GCs because the Turks forced us out of our homes. Prior to the Cyprus Independence in 1960, hundreds if not thousands of Eoka fighters, on release from British jails had their fares paid and emigrated to the UK , Australia if they so wish. Among them were my friends, Andrico and Andreas, the village carpenters. They were active aganst the British and well known. So there is nothing unusual for Milti being in the UK.

To tell you the real truth my ancetors came in Cyprus 2487 years ago from a village in Mani, village name is KOUNOS.

Then , after many many years other people, like you and your Turkish friends appeared in the Island.

My name may be Turkish, and so was my Grandfather's, however, my maternal Grandfather spoke Greek. The only thing that made us "TURKISH" were our names. Other than that, I eat pork, drink alcohol, indulge in certain things, which would make me a non-Muslim, however I am still categorised as a Turk. Other than that, the only things that differentiates Turks and Greeks on Cyprus is their names, language and religion. True, the Ottomans have a lot to answer for, as my ancestors were forced to convert to Islam in 1850, before the Ottomans leased the Island to the British Empire. So I don’t think the problem in Cyprus is a Turkish and Greek one, but a religious one that has divided the people who once lived peacefully side by side on the island.

Maybe. Cyprus was Christian for 1500 years before the Muslims invaded us. If the Ottomans had made their empire over Muslim lands then maybe there wouldn't be any problems today.
