Airconditioning

We are being asked to pay 3.50 euro per day for each unit in our rental apartment.
Is this a fair price :?:

I would say that's pretty fair considering the night time temps at the moment

Emassroua is right it depends on the size of the A/C unit. However, I do know when our place is empty it uses 65 units of electric per week and when we are there it uses 200 units per week. If my sums are right the average cost per unit is approx 15 pence per unit.

In answer to tommyb's question I would say 3.50 euro per day/unit is very reasonable bearing in mind the recent increase in the cost of electricity.

Sorry, should have said I like to keep the village cool when I'm not there, after all.... I am nuts!!

The pool pump runs whether we're there or not, which means we use 65 units a week just on the pool pump.
If you deduct 65 from 200 (units used when there) you get 135 units. Divide 135 by 5 A/C units it equals 27 units per A/C, multiply 27 units by 15p (cost per unit) = £4.05 per week or 5.02 euros per week (.717 euros per day) assuming an exchange rate of 1.24.
If Tommyb is being asked to pay 3.50 euros per day he's being ripped off.......
Hope that makes sense now - if not, I'm going to apply to go back to Broadmoor where the maths teacher was good!

Psycho

But your arithmetic does not take into account the units consumed by lighting, the kettle, TV etc and of course, it really depends upon what time of the year you are using your property.
