Most beautiful places ever visited, hmm this leaves wide margin for personal preferences and with that proviso here is my list:
In terms of man made environment- Monte Carlo for the sheer class it exudes, Austria for the care and love with which the countryside is managed, the French vineyards in the Rhone valley, Greek island villages for superb simplicity and minimalism of architecture.
Wild places- the marshes of the Camargue in southern France, Pindos mountains in Greece for rugged, awe inspiring wilderness, a storm in the Aegean sea while on route to Cyprus, the (uninhabited) island of Armathia (Aegean) where I lived for a week, the beach of Famagusta where I played before the assholes covered it with cement, a sunset in the Bay of Biscay in the Atlantic.
I appreciate the visual beauty of tropical places but I hate mosquitoes and still have nigthmares of mosquito attacks in the Nile delta so I leave those out. The Camargue has mosquitoes too, but it is so good to ride through the salt lagoons and have the water splash up and drive the bugs off!
In Cyprus I would add Bella Paix, Petra tou Romiou, Akamas, and the unique blue color of the sea off Limassol you never see such deep blue anywhere else in the world. But on the whole Cyprus is not visually awe inspiring in a way that would rank high in the comparison scales.
