ALEXIS GALANOS

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

ALEXIS GALANOS

Postby Bananiot » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:42 am

"Certain people use the Cyprob as a means to make money. Politicians as well as journalists would be out of work if ever the Cyprus problem is solved.

I have had enough of the Annan Plan rhetoric. Those that oppose it vehemously should come out clean and tell the people that they object to BBF"

Alexis Galanos, Mayor of Famagusta and ex President of Parliament. Used to be in DIKO (founding member, I believe) but has kicked all bad habits.

Alexis Galanos and his turbulent erratic past is the last person on this island to "instruct" us that the only BBF is that treasonous toilet paper you wanted us to vote for.

Ghalanos....

Postby cymart » Thu Jul 10, 2008 5:54 pm

If you slag him off too you have sunk very low as he is one of most decent and honest people you could ever wish to meet!Maybe you have never done so or you wouldn't write these allegations?
Especially as you come from Morphou,I'm very surprised about your attitude because along with people like us from Famagusta, you would have been able to return home by now if Christophias or Clerides had been elected in 2003!
By the way, when did you last visit your home town?I was over there last month and spoke to some of the present inhabitants who mainly come from the south of Cyprus.Even though they voted for the Annan Plan knowing this would have meant them moving home for what would have been the third time in many cases, they are much more reluctant to do so now....I really recommend you go there yourself and speak with them too as the older ones all know Greek and are very friendly.Your Bishop is also a moderate man and can see reality.
Speaking the truth may not please the 'katestimeno' in the south who are doing very nicely since 1974 and these are the people Ghalanos was referring to....
Hope no offence has been taken because none was intended by me.

Unlike you though, DT. is a Cypriot and he cares about Cyprus, and not just to get his hands on the property of his wife, as is the case with you.

I disagree. But at least you finally admitted that you are not a patriot but a traitor.

This is what you understood? The bones of Samuel Johnson are screeching in his grave. Mind you, he probably said "refuge" rather than "resort". He knew a thing or two about pavement patriots.

I wish people would stop intellectualising merely to look clever, and admit that each case is worthy of individual merit...

One glove does not fit all (to use the sort of expressions favoured by them).

Cyprus is a small country fighting for survival as an Independent Nation .... something most other countries have had the benefit of, for much longer, even if they may be younger historically than Cyprus.

What suits others does not necessarily suit Cyprus.

Nationalism and Patriotism may be merely survival tactics in Cyprus, but could well have sinister undertones in more Independently advanced countries, where Demographics are the only concern ...
