FANTASTIC . . positive and constructive ideas. REALLY GOOD!! :D :D

we always do rose , we do have our regular meetings .... last weekend we were at Kyreania soon we will meet at Nicosia .
Last week also i met Tim Drayton we had suprise visit to our friend ?ceman . ?t was nice meeting . we are learning lots of things from eachother .

Perdike , don't forget there will be identification control at check points .

Hello Halil :P :P :P
Nice to hear from you. I have been following CyprusForum for about 3 years, but have only recently joined.
I have appreciated your postings, (not least your lovely foody ones) along with all the others from people who want to mend old hurts and make a new life for ALL Cypriot people.

Unfortunately I am as far away from Cyprus as one can be, in New Zealand, so the Green-Line is just something I read about. My two children have a Greek-Cypriot father, and one of their Grandfathers came from Apostolou Andrea in the Karpas, and last year they visited there with their father (first time their Father had been there for over 45 years!) .

Halil, keep a stout heart in the face of all the negative feelings sometimes voiced on this forum.

Perdike thanks ,

Some how we must find to stopped our negative feelings . We must start from our kids ..... we must not destroy their brains by hate and claims ....

looks like this boat will go federal system .... we must get ready ....

respect to each other and try to learn how we can live side by side or together . depends how are leaders will prepare( make ready ) us with this new condition . ?t might not easy but our determination will win at the end.

The most happy and hopeful thread on the forum of all time is the present one where we have all adversaries united in the love of their grandchildren, dropping their intractable differences for a minute, all II AM SURE. hoping in their hearts that these meltingly adorable little ones, will be able to live good and peaceful lives.

The huge conundrum is; HOW to achieve that?

Reading some of the most vile, most hate-filled postings on the forum, it occurred to me that ALL of these vicious adults once were tiny, adorable babies, too.

HOW can we change all that?

I don't bear any ill will to people in the north but do follow my principles very strongly and it is a personal choice not to support an illegal occupation by accepting it as I would if I crossed a border to get into the same country.
I don't tell anyone else what they should do or even pass opinion on it, it's just my personal choice.

When i was in Cyprus last may I've crossed from Ledra Street twice, first time everything was ok I show my passport (as my nickname says I'ms spanish so an EU Citzen) at the turkish side at entrance and they give me that piece of paper, then show it again when geting back to ledra and no problem, but second time when my husband and I show our pasports to leave to the RoC again the turkis officer stops me and start saying that I was not the one in the passport, to be honest I have to say it has been issued 4 years ago and I've cut my hair drastically from then but I NEVER EVER BEFORE HAD A PROBLEM with the resemblance.
I start getting so nervous because the policeman or whatever he is insits not to let me go and starts asking me every kind of questions, where I live, how many times I have stayed in Cyprus, why I have corssed... Finally I was so scared and I ask my husband, (who has been allready released but waiting to me) in loud voice to go and search for an UN officer to help me, because I was serously thinging I'll not be released and as you know I cannot expèct for a diplomatic assistance or so if I was in trouble. That was all.... at my claim the police /customs officer, whatever... says "It doesnt mantter, go !!! and stamp the paper.
Believe me I had rushed out like I had never done before.

I supose there are idiots everywhere,

One of the dangers of crossing over is that if for any reason you get arrested, it is very difficult for your embassy or for the ROC police and UN to do anything about it. There is a legal vacuum north of Nicosia where people abide by their own laws however the rest of the world's rules, treaties and embassies are not applicable. Having seen the tc justice system first hand, you're pretty much on your own.

So if the Spanish lady that posted before me had that ape of a policeman decide that she's not the one in the picture....what would happen? Who would she call?

I know enough to know that you don't always have to break the law to get arrested in the north.

we have lived here for nearly 3 years now. most members of the police force are normal decent people, many of who are now friends. i think that they have a much more laid back attitude than police in the uk. not ready to arrest people first and ask questions after as in the u.k. maybe when this spanish lady got stopped there had been news of illegal immigrants entering the trnc. usually they try to cross to the south, he was just being careful. her experience was more or less the same as with our turkish cypriot friend on entering the roc. he is a cypriot!
