sounds good the way the oil prices have risen. opec think they can demand more and more. we think it will just make countries move faster towards bio fuels. then opec will have all that oil and nobody will want it. i admire toyota they seem to be leading the way. trouble is even in the uk, petrol stations are not yet geared up for the latest bio fuelcars. well they weren't 2 years ago when i went back last. i think cyprus is a long way off with lots of green issues. i hope they catch up fast.

I saw on TV that the Uk is now starting to recycle cooking oil. Mmmmmmmm driving around with the smell of cod and chips - preferable to petrol fumes???

I hope this doesn't betray my pitiful knowlege of the oil production process, but I too have wondered about what is happening where all the oil was drilled from. Are there great, gaping subterranean caverns that were once filled with oil? What would that do to the planet's structure?

Is it all going to collapse in upon itself someday? Probably making an idiot of myself here, but usually you need to replace something to stop a gap.

Thats really wierd you should ask about the space left behind after the oil is sucked up, because I was discussing that very same thing with a friend only two days ago!!! and the answer is.......................................

Don't know

AFAIK the void is usually filled with water. Sometimes naturally, sometimes by the oil company.

Thanks Brian . . but, oil is a different viscosity from water . . .?

I suppose those "experts" must know what they are doing?

Next they will be drilling for that 'filler' water, when water becomes as scarce and precious as oil!
