Quite another sort of horror . . . the choice the Meryl Streep character had to make in "Sophies Choice". Actually, I read the book first, and it is still one of the most horrifying predicaments I can imagine for a human being. The mother (in this case) on arriving at a concentration camp being forced by an "officer" to choose which of her two children to live, which one to die. If she didn't choose one, both children would die.
No wonder that character was unable to live with herself for the rest of her life (which wasn't long, anyway).

I remember that film too, absolutely heatbreaking.

The excorcist - I was 15 when it came out and I had to lie about my age to get in and travel to another town as mine wouldn't show it. I wished I had never seen it............

i'm with you Tess. i am not a big fan of horror film, but this one really did me in when i saw it in the theater. a few years ago it was re-released, and it was more like a comedy!--everyone in the theater was laughing.

incidently, if i ever find it, i will post a photo of me at the base of the stairs the priest fell down and died in the end. it was the hightlight of one of my trips to Washington DC.

Not being a big fan of horror films, I saw one earlier this year (on Tv) which was SO terrifying I resorted to turning off the sound and partially covering my eyes. An Australian movie, called 'WOLF CREEK', loosely based on several outback murders which occurred there in the past decade. MAN, I will NEVER go touring in the Aussie outback (except in a convoy. . . maybe). Anyone else seen it?

Any Jennifer Lopez movie.
