I am learning too, don't worry - my teacher is often in stitches with my mistakes - but once the grammar is (almost) learnt the rest isn't so bad, just a case of learning the vocabulary. If you get some small post it notes, write the Turkish name on and stick them up on various items like cupboards, fridge, etc, we had great fun at lessons when we were learning about body parts!!

Oh, Tess, you never. Yaramaz kiz/Naughty girl.

Let lessons begin

You should have heard us singing that song, "head, shoulders, knees and toes" in Turkish............Now that WAS funny

I'll hold my tongue

That is a good idea Tess, I may give that one a go (in Greek obviously!) but not post-its please - non biodegradable and bad for the environment!

I did try to make myself 'flash-cards' once - but I cannot draw to save my life!

I find the Greek verbs very difficult to learn, so a lot of what I say tends to be in the 'present' -and by far the easiest tense!

hi chick a dee, everything is great here in the north, turkish army are not a problem like some would have you believe. i will say that the only way you will get on here is to make tc friends. so learning turkish is a good start, you will pick it up day to day as you go along. so you can count to ten, order an efes but can you swear yet, lol.

I see some adverts offering instruction in Cypriot Greek in the South. Are any courses in Cypriot Turkish available anywhere?
