why do they call them everlasting flowers? always in bloom?
Yes, you are right. You can pick en up fresh and put them in a vase they last for years. They might fade a bit, but they do grow in the wild in Cypriot mountains.

They are called 'Statice'/Statis, (latifolia, )

Last time I picked them up was in 194/55, when we would go up the mountains with the school party on 9 March to celebtrate Ergenekon. Thats another storiy. Those in the pic are home grown. I am more envoronment friendly. I was trying to explain their longevity. They are not endangered in Cyprus, I think. They are not feathery nor edible.

Here's the pics I promised Deniz. The totoiseshell has only 3 legs, she was shot by the local death squad when she was 2 years old. The ginger one is a little sod, he howled at night for weeks when we moved house last year.
The brown labrador (Barney) had cancer and was put to sleep just a year ago. The black one was his best friend. Don't know the horses name but that's our granddaughter, Elia, feeding it.
