Arguments after 1st julay meeting at North

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby -mikkie2- » Thu Jul 03, 2008 5:52 pm

"Someone with a brain at last, Sotos is a fanatic who thinks that without EU leverage and Turkey in a disarray the Cyprus problem will be solved."

And you are an innocent angel I suppose! No smoke without fire VP. The question VP is do we want a solution that is FAIR to ALL Cypriots or a solution that favours one side over the other.

I think you favour having so many 'protections' in a 'united' Cyprus that you make the rights of the TC's and the settlers take precedence over the rights of the GC's. This in my opinion is wrong.

Yes, things will get worse for the TC's but what about Cyprus as a whole? Are we going to wait for Turkey to collapse or for third powers to come to our rescue or for the National Guard to storm the north and kick the Turks out? I think this is fantasy! We could wait for another 35 years for any of these things to happen.

If you wait for Turks to agree for a fair solution is the fantasy. Turkey collapsing is not fantasy and I hope the first steps for that are made soon with Turkey being kicked out of EU, another coup there and their economy going totally bankrupt. :D There will be no solution anyways so we might as well have some fun watching the Turks paying the price of being barbarians and not becoming civilized!

Lets hope it goes the other way and you explode from jealously you ignorant moron war monger.

The invader is calling me war monger? All those things is what you barbarians deserve! Get civilized and stop invading other countries and then maybe you can be Europeans and civilized and have stability!

We didn't start anything. We didn't import any Mongoloids on our island. The barbarians invaded us! And it is so brave for them that they are 70 million to invade an island which is that 100 times smaller  And Turks have failed anyways. What did they achieve? Even in sports they celebrate reaching the semi-finals for one time when they are the 3rd biggest country to participate in Euro. Thats how big losers they are!

-mikkie2- wrote:There is one very good reason why it is in the interests of the GC side to delay negotiations as late as possible and that is the imminent elections in the US to elect the new President. This may have a big effect on US policy on Cyprus. If Obama wins, he may change policy quite drastically - some of his closest aides come from the Greek and Cypriot American communities.

The other reason is that 2009 is a year where it is make or break for Turkish EU accession. As the deadline looms, the pressure on Turkey to make concessions will increase.

For those people that think Turkey can stand firm - the Turkish economy has taken a nosedive. Foreign investment (70% of the Istanbul stock market if foreign owned) is being pulled out from the country. Instability in Turkey is increasing and nobody knows what the result will be.

basically, it is a very BAD time to be negotiating the solution of the Cyprus problem. We are going to be in for a rogh ride over the next few months.

Hope, Hope, Hope, Dream, Dream, Dream.

About time considering T/Cs equality "what is good for the goose is good for the gander" . Foreign investors will never help you to keep T/Cs as second class citizen. Dramatically Turkey's advantage equals to Foreign investors advantage, American would not risk to lose powerful allied and would never stop trying to make Turkey EU member in order to control EU from back door.

I suggest only one thing for G/Cs to try influence leaders to acknowledge T/Cs equal rights in Cyprus, before its to late.

"Hope, Hope, Hope, Dream, Dream, Dream."

If you think the 'trnc' will be recognised as well, then you can do the same!

A permanent partition in Cyprus will NEVER work, even if agreed. The country is too small to be divided.

"what is good for the goose is good for the gander"

Exactly. So why don't you give to the Greek minority in Turkey what you demand for your minority in Cyprus?

We never asked for TCs to be "second class citizens". On the contrary we want TCs to be equal Cypriot citizens, as it happens with all other minorities in all other countries. It is you who wants to violate the rights of the majority of Cypriots so you can have gains on our loss.

Here is what political equality means (from the first result in Google when you search for political equality)

By political equality we refer to the extent to which citizens have an equal voice over governmental decisions. One of the bedrock principles in a democracy is the equal consideration of the preferences and interests of all citizens. This is expressed in such principles as one-person/one-vote, equality before the law, and equal rights of free speech.

We have absolutely no problem with equality as it exists in all other democratic countries and as it is described above. Equality means equal citizens[b], [b]regardless of their race or ethnic background. What you demand is exactly the opposide. You insist on racist segregation and separation of Cypriots based on their ethnic background so you can have gains on the loss of Greek Cypriots. That is called inequality.

Unfortunately Turks have a custom of reversing the meaning of words. Just like they reverse the meaning of the word "unity" to mean division. Have you ever heard of any country with two separate sovereignties?

The Turkish demands are so clearly directed in archiving partition it is amazing how they can still label it as "unity". They became absolutely ridiculous.
