China, Cyprus vow to promote bilateral mutual beneficial co-op

BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to work with Cyprus to push forward bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, said Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi here Tuesday.
Yang made the remarks during a talk with visiting Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou. They exchanged views on China-Cyprus relations and international issues of common concern.
Yang said China-Cyprus relations had developed soundly and stably with firm political mutual trust and cooperation.
He said China was ready to join with Cyprus to enhance high-level exchanges, strengthen consultation and cooperation between their foreign ministries, boost exchanges and cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, culture and judicial affairs.
Kyprianou said Cyprus and China enjoyed a friendship of close political ties and expansive space for cooperation.
He said the Cypriot side would adhere to the one-China policy on the issues concerning Taiwan and Tibet and oppose politicizing the Beijing Olympics.
He hoped the two sides would enhance cooperation in fields as economy and trade, shipping, tourism and renewable sources of energy.
The two sides also exchanged views on Sino-EU relations and situation in Cyprus.
