At the 23rd Socialist International Congress which started in Athens Consultative Membership of the CTP-BG was approved. All members said ‘yes’ to the membership of CTP-BG except Greek Cypriot member EDEK.

According to the statement made by CTP Press office, the observer membership of CTP which applied 13 years ago ended and CTP took its place among the Socialist International family.

Inspite of all preventive efforts of EDEK and the negative speech and protest EDEK made at the Congress hundreds of members of the Socialist International voted positively and supported CTP and after the voting they congratulated the CTP delegates.
