Tim, the Annan Plan was simply caving in to Turkey because it has a military advantage in the region. The GCs felt so strongly about it that they "intimidated" others and yes some may have gone over the top. However, I don't recall any incidents of people being beaten up or murdered for saying positive things about the plan, are you aware of any?

I have found the following quote in an article in the Guardian about the Annan Plan referendum:

The Cyprus Mail - which leads today with the headline "Hate and fear on the streets" - says the real threat comes from within the country, where incidents of violence and intimidation have marred the democratic process.

You are free to believe whatever you want Tim! You know people lie, exaggerate and dramatize, and you even know why they would possibly want to do so, especially when they are journalists! There were people in this country (including Clerides, unfortunately) that gave false promises to foreign circles that the GC side would have had no problem accepting more or less any “solution” plan would have come from the Anglo-Americans and would bear a fake stamp of the UN. When such people realized this was not so much the case, they possibly felt the need to justify to the international players, in various ways, why their claims could not be materialized! There are people that even asked for and got money from abroad, to sell the plan to the GC public, and this is a common “secret” among the GC society!

Maybe you dont know, Kifeas is what TCs call GARA GAVUR. He will deny or justify everything the GCs do or dont do.

He is the reason of problems in Cyprus. Majority of Gcs are Kifeas, thst why TC and GC never live in harmony.

No Kifeas, my wife is Tc and never say "Rumlar kara Kopek". She say theier is gtood and bad in all peeople but some GCS are very xtreme and its these one that are problem and she call Gara Gavur. She dont like me writing on here but I make her read some your post and she say definatly you in gara gavur kategory. You must be very proud

I am keeping an open mind. I wasn't here at the time, so I have no direct experiences to go by.

from your postes i can say it is you who dosent like to hear the truth. You Mr Kifeas and peeople like you are never happy with Tc peeople. If you want to tell truth why dont you tell us you hate all Tcs and Cyprus is Greek? If you are a man you do this.
