Oh well, this will just convince him that the devil is alive and well.

He should be more watchful, not off swimming with Brittania . . .

Lighten up, sonny boy.

Hello Kurupetos,

On second thoughts, it must be irritating to return to a posting and find it hi-jacked. But, steady on, "morons" ? . . . its just the ebb and flow of conversation, really. Tell you what, I'm asking you if you would like to post something to bring the thread back on-topic.

Give me a reference for this! Please!

honest it was written about the animals we shouldnt eat exactly same in quran. and many things are same . only the last part is different. i will try to find. also its very smilar to egyption religion which they found it 2500bc

Do u mean the new testimony? The new testimony is the important book for a christian. The old testimony is mostly used for historic references and serves as a prologue to the new testimony, christianity's book.

Anyway, I don't think it's too important what u drink/eat. That's superficial in my opinion and I think Islam prohibits pork for health reasons, although I don't see anything wrong with a skew of delicious pork souvlaki! Should I also mention sheftalia with ground pork meat? :D  Muslims & Jews are missing the joys of life!

Exactly kureptos

There are paragraphs in the Old Testament which would seem to decree that pork should not be eaten.
This would be the reason why the Jews do not eat pork as they (I think) base there scriptures on the old testament (maybe someone wiser may advise on this)
However Gav does not seem to understand that Christianity is based on the New Testament and there are in fact paragraphs in the NT which would appear to contradict the teachings in the OT and permit the eating of pork
So we can all carry on eating our souvlaki sheftali and Lukanika

Feeewww! :) For a moment I got sweaty! Off to my souvlitzitiko! Slurp!!! :D

When Peter had a vision in which he saw all manner of animals (including "unclean" ones) and was told to "kill and eat"

Peter himself did not attribute to his vision any meaning that God had cleansed unclean meats; he simply didn't know what it meant. He didn't have long to wait to determine the meaning as it became clear as soon the men sent by Cornelius arrived. Cornelius was a Gentile (a Roman officer) who had sent three men to Peter after receiving a vision of his own to do so. Peter quickly realized that his vision meant that he should not "call any man (not any meat) common or unclean." Peter understood the unclean meat in the vision had a symbolic, not a literal, meaning. The Jews of Peter's time (including Peter) were so Xenophobic that they avoided contact with Gentiles as much as possible, regarding them as " unclean" Peter shared that Xenophobia/racism, and in all likelihood would not have accompanied these Gentiles unless God had revealed to him in the vision "not to treat any man as unclean"

So, based on the above interpretation - we should forget Pork!!!! But the Irish (mainly RC) consume great quantities of Rashers, joints and even pigs feet - does that make us non-christian after all? Personally, I think the ban is steeped in historyand to do with disease etc and not relevant to todays lifestyles.
