Council of Europe will invite the two leaders in Cyprus to

Postby halil » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:30 pm

It’s been stated that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will invite the two leaders in Cyprus to address General Assembly meetings.

Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias will be invited to address the PACE General Assembly on the 30th of September and Turkish Cypriot leader Talat will be invited to address the Assembly on the 1st of October.
On the same day, a report on the Cyprus issue is expected to be presented to the General Assembly.

I think thats a great move, now its up to Talat to show that he is capable of representing all Cypriots at an international level.

Great news another chance for our voice to be heard, another chance to put forward our side of the story. Im sure the GCs will do everything in their power to stop this situation.

1st of October should give Talat plenty of time to get the script from Ankara and memorise it.

viewpoint if that is the attitude you focus on ..... I assure you it will be a flop. Talat needs to decide as to whether he wants to be a vice president that represents all Cypriots equally or someone who cries woolf.

Whats the problem with him putting our side of the story forward? our concerns and fears? you have had a monopoly on the EU stage for to long. Why are you scared?

VP you are behaving like a child now. This is time for unification and all efforts need to be going into that. Perhaps your fears and concerns can be discussed at the appropriate venue and that would be the working comittees. When the two leaders arrive at parlaiament they need to progress with a unified approach.

The RoC is the legitimate government of Cyprus and EU member State. It was appointed into the EU and has expressed a political and economic perspective that meet the needs of the people of Cyprus. If you wish to be part of that move towards unification and you too shall have access to the very same construct you resent the GC's for.

I was not referring to your coments on expression of concern in relation to unifcation childish at all. I believe that is valid. Your other coments I found to be attacking and destructive. read above and you may see what I am referring too.

If you can't then am happy to leave it there.

Please be more specific, as the TCs voice needs to be heard as much as the Gcs, there is always 2 sides to a story and its about time they heard the other side.
