I heard through the grapevine that there may be some developments this summer,at least as an initial gesture by allowing controlled access to Greek-Cypriot muncipal authorities and technical experts for surveying damages and possible future reconstruction etc.If all goes o.k. then the former residents will be allowed escorted inspection visits, although there will not be any change in its status until there is an overall solution.
By the way, there was a bar operating way down on the beach in the closed area during the last few summers where you could get drinks and very good Lahmacun, made by Turkish military cooks! Is it open this summer and if so,who exactly is allowed to go there? Some Turkish Cypriot civilians said to me that they have been and it might be open for foreigners too??
