Someone in a recent posting which I can't locate now wrote that they can't wait to leave there and come back to Cyprus.
I knew a Russian girl who was here for about a year back in 2000 but left because she was unable to obtain work and didn't have enough funds to buy an appartment etc. She has been in Barcelona over 7 years, hoping to get legal residency there and manages to survive by doing unskilled work, albeit illegally..
Of course it's difficult to compare a place like Paphos with a big vibrant city like Barcelona and having been there for just a few days,my impression was that it has a lot going for it.O.K. it's not cheap but then neither is Cyprus nowadays and a large country like Spain surely has a lot more opportunities than a relatively tiny island like Cyprus, especially for someone who needs to work to survive etc. However there have been a lot of bad reports about a serious recession due to hit Spain soon, largely resulting from the crisis in the building and property industry there although things internationally are not encouraging anywhere at present.
I would be grateful for any comments, especially from the Barcelona resident who posted here-I think it was under'ex-pats are being forced out of Cyprus by the high cost of living' etc.
