Comparing Paphos with Barcelona....

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I'm just back and see you all speaking about my hometown. As a Barceolona born and resident let me say a coublwe of things:

1.- Barcelona is a big city that everyday looks more like new York and, in my personal opinion has lost most of it's Mediterranean Character.

2.- We have nice buildings and no human being deserves tha bad luck of die without having ssen la Sagrada Familia (Gaudi, you know.... :-) )

3.- Last years our city has attracted lots of immigrants that are not always as nice as they can be and mayt tourist suffer of robberys and so on.....

4.- If you come here from Cyrpus you'll find that the people are so similar to you in our dally behave so you'll have no problem to adapt here.

5.- Yes in Spain the prices are growing up so fast, Nuch more than in Cyprus, believe me, so you'll find everything so expensive, specially going out to eat or drink. Also have to remark that our average wager are less than yours in Cyrpus.

For all this if you want my advice stay in Cyprus, I'll come if I can even loving my city and My caountry too much

@Oracle

Bull-fights are not so usual in Barceolona. we the catalans dislike it and the only "Plaza" that we have in Barcelona opens mainly for tourists.

I had lived almost all my life here and never been in a "Corrida" (Thats how they call the bull-fights)

You'll be most wellcome here, send me a PM if you decide to come.

I keep getting told they only happen in Madrid ... I do want to visit as I have a few friends in Spain .... but I really want them to stop the bull-fights ... with no excuses :shock: ... so I will wait for Spain to obey the EU first ...

Please make them stop! :(

Barcelona is a wonderful place to visit. The most fantastic architecture and atmosphere. I loved Palau de la Musica, Sagrada Familia (wow!) and walking up the length of Las Ramblas. There was a cocktail bar with traditional wooden shelving with glass doors from floor to ceiling full of the most obscure sprits/liqueurs - and no menu, you just told them what you liked and a cocktail would appear - fabulous. 8)

We did talk to a few people who lived there who didn't seem to be particularly happy, stating low wages as one of the complaints.

Paphos would be a good place to visit I guess but so very different of course (as others have said) and a totally different experience. I would live in Paphos AND have an apartment in Barcelona - but then I'd have to be very rich if I could do that! 8)

iF YOU DARE STOP THE BULLFIGHTS I WILL STOP VISITING BARCELONA!!!!

I have been to Barcelona more times and for longer each time than I have been to Paphos. In fact I know the place better than I know most of Cyprus cities excepting Famagusta. Pressed to choose I would opt for Barcelona, because I can go to the bull fights and piss off a few pseudo animal lovers and ecologists. My favorite hobby is getting them going.
