I never tried it but for sure it would be much slower. You would have to pass from many steep turns and some tiny villages that some villager would be parked in the middle of the road with his pickup and you would have to wait for him to move it before you continue your trip Most people know only of the touristic parts of Troodos, but some areas of Troodos that usually nobody ever visits are like that!

SAme old hairpin bends then. Over the rooftops of houses, Nothing has changed. Thank god, a bit of untouched Cyprus.

The fastest way is from the motorway through Limassol. It should take you about 1 and a half hours that way. If you go from the mountains it will take more, a lot more if you get lost.

I've done it a few times over the years and I would estimate it would take twice as long .

It's a lovely drive out and there are some really pretty villages ~ I get to see different villages each time because I never seem to take the same route ( lost ) or they keep moving them .

Quickest route highway from Nicosia all the way to Paphos you can do it in around 2 hours.
