Can someone explain this to me....

I have english/cypriot friends

Who were born & bred in England moved to Cyprus a couple of years ago after being educated in UK..

One girl 20years old engaged to Cypriot lad, wedding booked, living together in mum & dads large villa when lad decides he doesnt want to get married now due to them being so young etc bla bla bla

I said to the sister.. well its better to have happened now than once they are married and there are children involved..

who then snapped my head off saying 'I knew you English girls wouldnt understand'...
.........................remember said girls were born and raised in England

So what happens? ........girl is spirited off back to the UK next day on Cyprus Airways to relieve her from the shame of cancelling wedding and basically being dumped......Straight back into daddys arms (who has incidentally been back in UK for 18months undergoing free medical treatment)...

It does seem that many people here want the best of both worlds?!?!
