the world is getting worse, it is full of propaganda.
what i want to know is what happens to all this money that is raised via so called charities.
you always see adverts for jus £2a month yiu can feed and shelter?????
how come nothing has ever come of the millions of pounds raised every year?

Cause most people turn the tv station over or turn the page of their newspaper to the sports section due to them not wanting to contemplate the prospect of trying to understand the poverty and distress of others...

Why you ask? because they find it depressing and feel that their own problems, taking children to school, booking holidays have a more immedite impact on theier lives and are therefore more important....

Am I one of thes people, if I'm honest, I probably am much of the time, but I can say I have done charity work in the past and donated on numerous occations which is some grace as I am sure that is more than many others have done...

Is the World better now? No
Is it Worse? No

We are aware of problems now there we were not aware of in the past and that can only be a good thing, there will always be war and suffering in the world as it is in human nature to create a degree of chaos depending on your environment.

Global warming is an issue that has to be taken very seriously though as we see an influx of natural disaster occuring...

My opinion...? I think its getting better.

Yes there are problems..iraq..global warming..etc etc.

With communications generally so improved in recent years..ie the internet.. i think we are more aware of the various problems facing the world.. and therefore able to study/think about those problems and then.. maybe.. be in with more of a chance of solving them.

It will be a slow process..but i think we will get there in the end.

Kurepitos...There is a world beyond cyprus. A world full of problems. Maybe if you studied other countries problems...you never know..you might come up with a cure for the cyprus one.

We live, in the main, a life of total excess and greed.
In general people couldn't give a sod about worldwide problems as long as they don't affect their cosy little lives.

I disagree. This is the Cyprus forum. Everything should be related to Cyprus. As I said there are a million other forums about a billion topics. Why not use those for other issues? Everytime I read the CY forum topics I find the majority of threads used are not related to Cyprus.
