Feisty , unfortunately , and I do mean this sincerely , at this juncture of life its difficult for me to move to Cyprus permanently , I do however visit at least once a month and spend a weekend with family , grandchildren daughter etc.
I adore the country and when I'm there I have found a way to " double" my days so it seems much longer than the 3 or 4 days that I can stay .
Regards

Well whilst not disputing any of what you say about it, Cyprus is not your country.
If you are 62 as I believe you have said, it means you have lived in England quite voluntarily for all of your adult life. No matter what the reasons for you not returning, the fact remains that you haven't.

I am Scots, married to an American woman and I live and work in Ireland. I've been to Cyprus a few times and loved it. I work in computing and I'm looking to move to Cyprus sometime in the future.

The first time I came to Cyprus was to Napa and I hated it! I hated the drunks, the loudness and total absence of Cypriots. The next time I came, I avoided the tourist places and visited various places and met real people! It was wonderful. I love the attitude to life.

If there really was a Garden of Eden, I'm sure it was on Cyprus!

Feisty. Miltiades really does have a good reason so please don't question this further. Being Cypriot does not necessarily stem from being in Cyprus 100% of the time but is an emotional bond.

Oh people, from my point of view you should really give us a break.
The island is very nice, and maybe part of the history is true, but there are like 70% of Cypriots which are not as close as what you think they are.

Damn racists.

What I am proud of in the UK is it's unrivalled beautiful scenery, the greenery of the fields and trees. The fabulous little villages which are a joy to visit. Driving through the peak district today I was reminded that nowhere in the world do you see such beauty. Yes, the downside of this is the rain that we have to endure but every benefit has it's cost.

I'm also very very proud of our health service in the UK. It may have it's faults (and yes there are many) but nowhere in the world (without cost) can you get such unrivalled lifesaving care whatever your status in life.

I entirely agree that Britain with its scenery is indeed a beautiful country
more so the area you mentioned , the Peak district .
Our Health service is something to be proud of indeed , however it very much depends on your living location and the available hospitals in your area.
Some London Hospitals are so badly managed they ought to be closed down. Care and service to the patient is comparable at times to that received in some third world country. I'm not going to name a hospital but suffice to say that wherever there is a strong concentration of immigrants the care and service provided seems to reflect the recipient's standards in their countries.
Back to Britain , where else in the world to you get 4 seasons in one single day , where else do you come across such intolerable tolerance !!!
Having experienced life in the UK from as far back as 1961 I can say that life ain't what it used to be , successive governments have introduced draconian measures to make life for those of us at work a real struggle , unmarried women getting pregnant so that they can have the "benefits "
we have the highest number of single mothers in Europe , the highest number of cameras to watch over us making sure that we are safe !!!
Councils going through our rubbish bins , fining us if we put our rubbish out for collection on the wrong day or even the wrong time !!
In spite of it all Britain is still a great country , just look at the number of people jostling to come to our shores .
