Maybe we are, but I cannot remember a time when I went out looking for a fight, to get pissed or too score some crack.

no, me neither. and i remember some wild kids when i was growing up, but none of them would attack anyone indiscriminatly like those scumbags in fassoulla the other night

lack of discipline i think. i know its a cliche, but bring back national service. best thing ever.

i mean, national service in the uk

we have it here, and i think it is the only thing that stops the youth from going totally berserk

they get spoiled by their parents, lack of discipline at school, but the army seems to knock them into half-decent shape by the time they are 21

I wouldn't say it knocks them into shape, as the biggest yobs are normally from the better off families that either have their sons declared loonies (about 20%) to miss their national service or get them cushy postings so they can go home to mummy in their BMW every day.

It's too soft in the UK, you cannot even swear at them in the Army now. The UK has lost the plot with a percentage of it's youth.
Plenty of questions about the problem but no answers to solving the problem.

yeah i agree, but imagine the anarchy we would have here if they DIDNT have to do the army at all

i think it would be far worse

so what is the solution

i have my own, it is called a baseball bat and a rather large selection of usually amiable but easily aggreived friends and cousins etc, but unfortunatly this does not help wider society

money is the root of this problem.

it would be nice if the pissers did get to smell blood as it is rotting. "National Service" should include cleaning up after tragic circumstances, here and abroad, or after an autopsy, the room. death up close, (now that's a thrill), working with dignity, something which gives a person (young adults especially) gratitude, and humility. The Army does not do that.

not so romantic i'm afriad. they deal in the slave trade (cabarets) and drugs and illegal gambling

most of them are small fry, hence the frequent petty car bombs/ arson attacks etc, and lack of any real criminal underworld structure on the island

Maybe the Republic of Cyprus isn't big enough to have proper gangsters, though I'm told there are plenty in the 'TRNC'.

If these people are well known gangsters then why don't the cops just round them up, give them a good kicking, then send them to jail? The penalties are pretty big for human trafficking.
