Yes Born and raised in Cheshire, Cheadle hulme to be precise, it has changed a lot since we left though.

My Husband had a business in Cheadle, Cheshire, he sold it and we moved abroad.

As I said before free speech is fine unless its hurts or upsets another person.

Truth can upset and hurt. Should we not say the truth because somebody might be upset? I don't agree! First and above everything else is the truth. Limit to free speech should only be when you make allegations and say things against others that are not true. For example you shouldn't call a female member here a whore unless you know for sure that she takes money for sex or if she admitted this thing in the forum. But if say somebody comes in the forum and he admits that he bought GC property in the occupied areas then I will call him a criminal thief because that is the TRUTH and I couldn't care less if I hurt his feelings with telling him the truth!

Call a shovel a shovel, a thief a thief as long as it's the truth? I like this angle. Are we now ignoring Mill? Must do some reading.

i am very amazed at this post. not so long ago the author was calling me a racist for saying something that was a fact. so now its all about freedom of speach or the lack of it. peoples experiences are what forms their personalities, everyone is entitled to their say. i guess fiesty you have a very very short memory. or it that you just forgot?

Hi Feisty - You posted above that you had some experience in the matter of libel on the internet. Without ref to your specific case are you able to tell us what general lessons we might draw from your experience please.

Basically to engage your brain before you use your typing fingers in this case.
If people's lives and reputations are likely to be affected by what you say, don't say it unless you can back it up with fact.
If you must be offensive make sure that what you are saying is both truthful and relevant. eg. Britannia called me an ignorant chav cow, or to be more precise, asked if she was able to call me one. Personally I think that particular comment made her look a bit stupid and immature and there was certainly no point in saying it. However, if others on the forum took up her comment and started to treat me as such then she would have been guilty of commiting libel. If the forum owner then refused to delete the post then they would have been committing libel to.
What I'd say to the people who want to be able to say what they like and to hell with the consequences is have the courage of your convictions and set up your own forum to do it on instead of moaning about posts being removed and members, who a lot of people believe to be both boring and offensive, being suspended . It's not hard.
