In cases where denigration of Turkishness is committed by a Turkish citizen in another country the punishment shall be increased by one third.

This might be a stupid question, but if it happens in another country then how can the Turkish government punish the person?

Also, lets say someone makes a joke about being Turkish (assuming there is such a thing as self-deprecating humour in Turkish) does that constitute 'denigration of Turkishness'?

I'd love to hear from our northern brothers to shed some light on this but they are so silent (on this).

Maybe that's because if they criticise the 'TRNC' or Turkish regime they could get thrown into jail for 'denigration of Turkishness'? You never know who's monitoring the internet...

On the plus side, being a British citizen I'm free to call the 'TRNC' a puppet regime all I want. It's good to be free

just to keep you informed, people here in the north criticise the goverment everyday. have a look at a copy of cyprus today next time you visit. the jail could not hold that many people!
