I disagree with the Cyprus Forum

Consider it unecessary to suspend people especially ones that contribute so much to this forum both positive and negative.

DOn't want to make a big deal of this but I'm off as well until all this nonsense is finished and a clear direction is given of where the owners of this forum would like to take it. This might be privately administered and owned however its become a little larger than its owners at the moment and some decisions need to be taken.

See Ya.

Instead of going DT, (or at least before you go) why don't you outline your thoughts on the forum rules. As I have said before and certainly people have seen, I have crossed swords with other members on several occasions - but I do believe in free speech, as one man once said :

"I may not agree with what you say, but by God I would die defending your right to say it"

DT , the administrators of this privately owned Cyprus Forum have every right to take action against a member that uses offensive language directed at an Administrator . Lana in this instance.
I think they are on balance very patient and bearing in mind some of the insults that have been thrown against members , and I don't mean calling someone an idiot or a moron but insults like " Turkish c..k Sucker " .
I have on numerous occasions called people f..ng idiots or Plonkers but have never reverted to disgusting pornographic language or attacked anyone's family.
They will be back , they will suffer no indignity and will be refreshed , and I'm here waiting for them , to debate of course in a civilized fashion !

To my mind Free Speech is allowed here, but Free Speech should not include overtly racist, sexist remarks or abuse of other members, I suspect GR fell foul of the latter, if anyone saw his totally unprovoked attack on me on Friday - CF will perish if we have anarchy.

With the privilege of Free Speech, comes the responsibility of using that 'right' properly. I see one ardent proponent of Free Speech here, is telling people not to discuss O and GR in their absence, so Free Speech is allowed providing it is limted to his definition of Free Speech.

I have said this before, but it is worth repeating: Free Speech, in the CF context, should include the right to express an opinion without the expectation the it will result in personal abuse.

My last comment on this, I hope!!!

Hi Humanist

I understand why emotions get raised in Cyprob, but until my dying day I will never understand why, in the General Section, seemingly intelligent and wordly people need to resort to abuse of other members because of their opinions. Put counter arguments, use logic, explain why you think differently - but why act like a spoilt child and hurl abuse?

Beats me!

Lana OK that's enough for me, I am off to kick my dog!

...You should put these questions forward when they are able to counter them...Expressing your views or asking others to join in, is unfair...
