salt or chlorine?

...with the water shortage, and the crisis which is looming, i found this quandry most interesting. perhaps the question more rightly is pool or no pool.

your comments please...

i personally prefer pools, but i have always found no matter how hot it is in cyprus the water is always cold.

i also think that with the water shortages private pools should not be topped up all the time and people should use hotel pools for the summer.

of course that is just my opinion.

The only problem with not topping a pool up is that the circulation system can stop working and once the water becomes stagnant it becomes a breeding ground for mossies

pools with pump houses are useful where there is a risk that fire would cause a disaster. it is unfortunate, but I cannot think of other reasons where their luxury serves a practical purpose.

How about filling pools with sea water? We could have a pipes network that could transfer sea water to be used in pools and also to be used against fires in the forests so we will not have to spend our drinking water for them! Good idea? :P

if the machinery is not damaged by the salt, it may be economically feasible, now that 'clean' water is so dear. lorries for this sevice, and regular deliveries, may be a profitable venture for some who are enterprising.

The salt can not harm you but the sun can ;) repulse I think I should go and patent the sea water idea! :P Desalination is a complicated and costly process but just a simple filtering of sea water would not be very hard. We could have a factory pumping tons of sea water in a pipes network!
