It is not my job to defend Oracle or Gr. So I ask that members respect the above and await for their return so that they may personally counter these character attacks.

Paphitis, may I also add weight to your request ?, I did mention this precise point in a response I made to miltiades earlier, since I did suffer some verbal attacks (in my absence) some time ago the result of which led to another member (who defended me) leaving the forum in disgust.

Such attacks are cowardly and unacceptable.

In my humble opinion.

That is most sad news dear Eliko. May I ask which member has left the forum in disgust?

May I say that this forumer is yet another victim of censorship and the arrogance of Miltiades.

A very sad day for free speech and the CF.

You may be right, but some would argue that free speech includes the right to critisize another who has been banned, or, as it appears in this case, requested that all her posts be deleted from the forum. Sounds like Bill was right.

You can await their return to the forum where they would both have the ability to counter and defend your character assaults. If you refuse to do this, then this is an indication of your spineless and gutless demeanor by talking in a negative way about those that are not in a position to reply.

You don't get it do you Paphitis, I have an argument/discussion with you and you respond with personal abuse. I'm thick skinned and boring enough not to let it bother me. Read what admin said before the thread was locked and try and understand what it means.

He was 'Stout' (Andy) a very nice chap from London who actually gave me his avatar.

I have visited his home and have established quite a firm friendship with his family, I was able to assist his son with a school project on Egypt and I look forward to another few pints in Andy's local shortly.

Stout, as a new member, did not have the tolerance necessary to combat ignorance, he fell foul of another member's campaign of abuse against me (in my absence) and I actually advised him to quit on account of the fact that I may have deserved criticism in this instance (which he did).

Interestingly, the offending member was one of miltiades's closest allies (at that time) and no sooner did I propose any view which conflicted with miltiades's, I could be sure of an immediate attack from both of them.

I believe they are of the same age group, so 'In Tandem' were they that it crossed my mind that they may have been sleeping together   complete nonsense of course but one must try to introduce some levity into situations where anger may take control.

Quite funny to me, unfortunately upsetting to Stout apparently, he lost control, resorted to foul language and tainted his own image.

Amusing story when I think about it, another 'Victory' for miltiades and his crony perhaps.

Best Wishes. Eliko.

The thing is niki its not just about GR and O its about the right to post your opinions whether or not they are concieved as right or wrong by others.

No Richard, I disagree. It's about HOW you express your opinion and how you respect others by not personally abusing them.

I would agree with this. Freedom of speech is important but not when it stifles others into silence.

The differance between you and I is that when I post something negative it is always to persons who are able to respond and defend themselves.

Now I ask you to extend the same courtesy to Oracle and run along to the GAME thread. Thanks.

Paphitis you obviously don't understand what this means:-

The case of Oracle was simpler. I requested from her to be less provocative against certain groups of people especially in sections other than the Cyprus Problem. Her response was a request to delete all her accounts in the forum. Instead of permanently deleting her I just suspended her account for 2 weeks.

Sounds like she does not want to come back.

Jerry

Apologies for the delay in answering I was travelling home from work.

yes there has been some personal abuse both given and taken by a not inconsiderable number of members. But if we take this as the yardstick
by which members are banned then there would be a lot more than two members being singled out.

I take this verbal abuse with a pinch of salt (sticks and stones etc) But it seems that many members are ok at giving it out but when the going gets tough instead of the 'tough' getting going they start crying

If people dont like the heat dont get involved is what I say

It's hardly fair that Oracle and GR get suspended for voicing their opinions while there are other people that repeatedly post hate-filled comments and propaganda and get away with it.

I don't need to mention any names, a quick glance through the first few pages of the Cyprus Problem section are example enough.

You are right of course Richard but I have personally been "ambushed" completely out of the blue, gratuitously and with malice. I have ignored such pathetic attempts to wind me up but I ask myself what would visitors think when they see this "playground" behaviour. I'm of the opinion outsiders must get a pretty poor impression of Cyprus and Cypriots from CF. I have two Cypriot cousins who never come near the forum and another gave up after a couple of posts because of what they saw as childlike squabbling. It's interesting to note that TCs have stayed out of this "debate", I wonder why?

Had the same thought around lunch-time, I'd like to hear from one or two more of our northern siblings on this (before this gets locked please.)
