Natural Cyprus Before & Without .... the Turks! ....

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

PS - even your siggie line seems to break the 'no mention of anything TC' rule for this thread!

There's no such rule. Besides, it is a quote by a TC.

As for your other rant; are you now claiming history has to be re-written to include the present day demographics as always having been present and influential?

I really think you have a problem detaching past historical contexts from present day realities.

The Turks are the continuing present. But, does that mean they have always been part of all of our distant past?

Surprising only to you, but the greater historical narrative of Cyprus does not include ANY influence by Otto-Turks as they are a relatively recent invention (bit like massively destructive weapons).

I see no rants by me. I was mildly amused by the thread insisting on no mention of TC.

I mention the Otto-Turks nowhere.

I live with the present day realities. I certainly do not dwell on past historical context. The present day reality is that the evidence of Turkish Cypriots is all around me in Cyprus. I can see a lot of it from where I am sitting typing! That's unless the GCs put those Mosque Spires up and gave lots of streets Turkish names?

I stated that it seemed a bit daft to insist on talking about Cyprus and the history of Cyprus without mentioning anything TC or Turkish. I still think it is. I really don't understand why you are getting so exercised about that.

I have never posted a single pro TC post. But this is beginning to sound like one - all thanks to you for that!

Oh, my first picture was of Cyprus Donkeys. I have no idea if they were here before the Turks. If the Turks were responsible for the donkeys - sorry about that. The ancient timeline on these things is not something I know very much about at all. If you have read any of my previous posts, you will see I am far more interested in Cyprus TODAY and in the FUTURE.

But I do love touring Cyprus, have seen almost every inch of it (where it is accessible) - I doubt I would have enjoyed it so much if I had had to restrict myself to only seeing the bits of it that bear no trace whatsoever of the Turks!

look what happened to us when we where forced to acknowledge a turkish minority we have our island split in two.. look in germany where they are demanding turkish be tought in school and mosques and the German's hate them.. If turkey had a larger army like they do in Cyprus in UK Germany and other countries they have a minority they would be fighting to split them in two also .. Greece was lucky and says no we have no turk minority so they don't get trouble.. imagine what would happen if Greece did acknowledge them, Greece would be in wars very quickly

So, if you were given an essay to discuss the influence of the Celts and their contributions in the establishment of Britain, will you think it relevant to bring in what the Asian community is doing today in the UK?

The fact there is a large Asian community in the UK today does not add to the material development of Beowulf some thousand years ago.

Get it?

Not really!

Don't really get the comparison you are making with the Asian community in the UK today either!

Perhaps you should have stated some DATES and restricted any postings on this thread to Cyprus within those dates?

No idea how long Turkish Cypriots have been in Cyprus.

One thing occurs - you have now taken up a lot of space mentioning the very thing you did not want mentioned!

I'm not impressed with the weather in Cyprus this past week - and I don't blame any ethnic minority or community for that.

Didn't you? I had realised you resort to personal insults whenever anyone disagrees with you (or is even mildly puzzled as to what you are on about).

I'm happy to say that almost all the GCs I've come to know since moving to Cyprus are less hostile than you are. Actually that goes for all the TCs, Iranians, Palestinians, Lebanese, Iraqis and English too!

I will leave you to your thread for your imagined dream world of Cyprus without any CTs, Turks, or even any mention of them.

You never did tell me whether the Turks were responsible for the donkeys!
