Turkish Programming on PIK2

Postby Nickp » Sat Apr 30, 2005 12:05 am

Hi there,

I just wondered if any Turkish Cypriots watch the Turkish Cypriot lifestyle magazine show on PIk2 as well as the Turkish Cypriot bullitins on PIK 2 which is the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation channel 2.

I'm mainly interested to hear if TC's take an active viewing or if it's all a waste of time.

As for my self, i'm a GC in England and I watch it on the sattalite feed with interest occassionally. Since i've seen it aired it's given me the perspective that Cyprus is something more than a Greek Cypriot state. This has obviously been becuase of the division of the two communities and the Greek site representing the whole island to give the impression of a Greek Cypriot state.

Nickp thats the impression the GC administration have been peddling for years and still subscribe to, promoting the whole island of Cyprus as being a Greek State and we TCs are just a minority in our own homeland.

Well, TC's are a minority statistically on the island, it's a fact you can't get away from, however at the same time the country is equally is yours as it is ours. I guess this is where alot of the tension comes from as it's a kind of catch 22.

Regardless, my question was pointed towards any TC's who watch this programming and their thoughts. The TC presenter is really attractive, i wouldn't mind changing sides if she married me...... :P

I watched the mentioned channel and some Turkish programs on it when I was in Cyprus last summer. I think it's useful.

I also like her not because she is attractive but because she seems professional on what she is doing and shows respect to the viewer -The girl no doubt has a charisma-the most important thing-!

And from what I know she is from Larnaca!

Mum told me that the PIK used to show a Turkish film once a week in 60s, but now they only have boring programmes. I wonder if any GC watches the Greek programmes at BRT?
