The 35th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference has ended in Uganda’s capital Kampala.

In the Kampala Declaration, the OIC reiterated its support for the solution process in Cyprus and once again confirmed solidarity with the Turkish Cypriot People.

The final communiqué of the 35th session also called on the international community, including OIC member countries, to take concrete steps towards putting an end to the international isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot People.

On the Arab-Israeli conflict, the OIC expressed support for resolution and also welcomed the signing of the Doha Agreement which brought the political crisis in Lebanon to an end.

Underlining the strong OIC support given to efforts aimed at reaching a national agreement among Iraqi people, the Kampala Declaration made a strong reference to the protection of Iraq’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity.

The Declaration called for increased assistance to be provided to the Afghan government and people which also condemned the terrorist attacks taking place in the country.

OIC foreign ministers agreed that member countries have the right to maintain and develop nuclear activities only for peaceful purposes and called for the end of nuclear crisis with Iran in peaceful means.

Criticizing Armenia for its offensive approach against Azerbaijan, foreign ministers called on Armenians to immediately withdraw from the Azerbaijani lands without any preconditions.

On the issue of Kosovo, where Kosovo declared its independence last February, the OIC foreign ministers underlined solidarity with the people of Kosovo.
