Or how do you save yourself from the heat? Yesterday 42 in Nicosia, i had the feeling that the Devil is trying to roast me for his meal... Which air condition is best for a small appartment and how much is the cost ? :P

Won't help you in Nicosia, no coastal breezes.

you need to measure the rooms, and buy the right size for the job. If you don't want the expense then an electric fan might help (a bit) plus A/C's aren't very healthy!!!

Do you not have windows at opposite ends of the rooms, anywhere in the flat?

.... that's all it needs. :)

What is 'Optical Pollution' ?.

I think the manner in which the outside units are fitted (particularly on new buidings) are a prime candidate for such a title.

Whereas the function of air-conditioning is necessary in many cases, why do they have to be fitted in such an unsightly fashion ?.

In some cases (where the units are at 'Gound Level') they can be quite dangerous (especially after a few drinks !).

I agree, they are ugly and in a lot of cases noisy!!! I am lucky to catch sea breezes, and keep the shutters shut during the day - but Nicosia is crippling in the height of summer, although some say the nights are cooler than the coast!!
